Change of plans?
So after last night's post we got online and did research about bases and closest universities with a dietetics program.
These are the results:
Fort Benning:
Closest university with dietetics (or nutrition) program: Auburn University in Auburn Alabama
Distance from Army Base: Fort Benning to Auburn, AL 52 minute commute
Ft. Benning to AU: 60 minutes
ADA accredited: Yes
Housing: Affordable, but in high ranges
VS.
Fort Riley:
Closest university with dietetics (or nutrition) program: Kansas State University
Distance from Army Base: Fort Riley to Manhattan, KS 20-30 minute
Ft. Riley to KSU: 20 minutes
ADA accredited: Yes
Housing: Affordable and can be right in the middle of base and school.
Other perks:
Ft. Benning close to Emory University (PKU clinic)
Ft. Riley close to family in Manhattan
Ft. Benning on base housing not that great
Ft. Riley seemed fairly nice
Ft. Benning jobs rare
Ft. Riley Tornado Alley :(
Our main deciding factors are schooling and can we afford it there if I am going to school. I'd probably get a part time to help out but thats our main deciding factor.
And if you wondering how are we going to forsure get Ft. Riley or Benning. We are working with many people who are going to help john get placed in a unit that doesn't deploy (very important) and work of course.
