Whew! That felt good!

So, when we got home (around 1630) I did a few things then went outside to help my dad shovel. I say this completely seriously: I like shoveling. I LOVE the feeling after a good workout, but I don't like workingout for the sake of workingout! Shoveling has a point, but a great workout!

And THIS WAS A WORKOUT! We had a Nor'easter this past week. It dumped about 3-4 inches of snow. Which froze. Solid. So, after two hours my mom calls me in (my dad gave up a while ago) from shoveling with the neighbors (they're a sorta-old couple, late 40's early 50's, from Texas... no snow!) So, we had to chip the driveway. My dad cut down through the ice with the metal shovel, and I can in behind clearing the chunks with the snow shovel.

Yeah, So I was outside in around 30F weather for 2 hours. Here's the "I'm-a-crazy-Alaskan" part: I was wearing a light long-sleeve shirt and a slight pullover. Also, a skirt. (In my defense, the skirt is ankle length and made of sweatshirt material!)

My back kinda hurts now...

Oh, and if you don't remember from my last shoveling post, our driveway is about 150 feet long and ten foot wide... that's a LOT of ice! Ice is heavy!

I wasn't cold when I came in. After a couple minute my feet hurt. Turns out they had gotten wet and then numb... but no frostbite :) about 15 minutes later, now, I'm beginning to get cold. Alas, 'tis the pattern of hypothermia...

Okay, so I wasn't hypothermic, but I was colder than I thought (which is often how it works... if you're cold, you're safe... when you're not cold is when you're either a) not cold or b) WAY too cold!) Yeah, but the blood that was near my skin moved back into the core of my body... so now I'm cold... *cuddles in blanket with a kitty* Warmth!

*points to icon* A picture of me after I was done *lol* (I was called in about 1-2 minutes before we would have been done anyways.)

Anyways, the reason I did it mainly was because I didn't sleep well last night, I'm going to sleep AMAZINGLY tonight! (Which is good, because I have a lot to do tomorrow and the next day, no time to be tired or to take a nap!)

shoveling, sleep, snow, workout, tired, weather
