Burdened

Did anyone see the entire second season of Loki and feel like talking about it? My dad's out of the question because he's been lost this season, which is weird to me when he's watched decades of Doctor Who.

Watching fic writers react to the finale on AO3 has been a trip. So many fix-its since it's kind of tragic as well as a kneecapping to shippers. Though Sylki shippers have been screwed throughout season two, in my opinion. Man, I did not like Sylvie this season, so set in her worldview and self-righteousness that even when she finds out what she did will destroy all life and timelines everywhere, her thing is that it's up to Loki to find a way to fix it while also maintaining free will... and without killing her... since she can't be arsed. Can barely be arsed to listen to anything Loki says, and what little does penetrate she usually uses to denigrate him and whatever he's doing.

Season two ended up being about Loki after all, which is nice since I often couldn't say that about season one. Enjoyed the Chicago World's Fair setting of episode three since that's on my historical bucket list, just not the serial killer part.

The Rockefeller Christmas tree arrived this weekend, and hearing about it made me sadder than usual. Chopping down an 80-year-old tree and driving it 200 miles within a kind of convoy so it could be displayed for less than two months and then turned into lumber and mulch. Far from green of them.

Unlike the first Rockefeller Christmas tree in 1931, during the Depression, when the workers building Rockefeller Center pooled their resources to buy a 20-foot tree they decorated with strings of cranberries and paper garlands made by their families and some tin cans. In this photo of it, the workers are receiving their wages nearby. In the background center and right are St. Patrick's Cathedral and Saks Fifth Avenue.
