Somebody Help Me

Nov 15, 2023 08:07

I still haven't posted anything about my Hyundai hell to NY Consumer Services or the Better Business Bureau because they don't have human beings on their phone lines to help and their online forms want me to be succinct and deeply focused when Hyundai is rotten in several directions and strung me along for months. Also, NYCS wants me to have tried to "resolve" the matter with the company first, whatever that means. As for BBB Autoline, which warranty is Hyundai fucking with me on?

Don't buy Hyundai, especially don't buy a used Hyundai, since Corporate's deal is that as second owner none of the warranties apply to you, even though the fault is still their crapsack engineering, and you have to buy an extended warranty, which a Hyundai dealer might offer but a private dealer lot like I used wouldn't even think of because who would buy a Hyundai if they knew any of this?

So I want to harpoon Hyundai corporate and local dealer Koeppel Hyundai for related reasons, but I don't think the various online forms would let me articulate that.

After I haunted Koeppel's "owner loyalty manager" by e-mail, a service manager finally admitted to me that about Hyundai's terrible warranty position and said that the two service reps who told me I was covered were just new and didn't know better. And you think that's okay? Also, pretty fucking convenient.

There were no apologies or offers of sweeteners for my long term of suffering with Koeppel, after their cowardly and incompetent service division left me in limbo, ducking my calls, for weeks. Just a whatever and that she doesn't think it's an oil problem anyway, even though my engine does now burn oil way faster than it used to and doesn't drive normally. But it's fine! Just change the oil every three months, even if the car's manual says it should be six. (Burning up to a quart and a half of oil every 1,000 miles is fine! Oh, it's two quarts burnt on normal oil, says your own mechanic? He doesn't count because he's not Hyundai. But better pay more for the higher quality oil then.) I think it's the spark plugs or fuel injection that's actually causing the acceleration issues! Not that you're covered for that either. You're on your own!

Koeppel seems to be allergic to taking responsibility for anything.

NY Consumer Services and BBB Auto Line are very careful to say they can't promise the results you want. NYCS asks if I've gotten a lawyer. Like I can afford one?

NYCS' form also asks what you want of this. I want Hyundai Corporate and Koeppel Hyundai to fix my car's engine without cost to me and to die in a fire but I don't think I can say that. NYCS makes it sound like they really want a bitesize version of the story, and there is none here.

For BBB Auto Line I need research to find out which warranty I fit under! I also don't trust Koeppel or Corporate to admit to it being an oil problem. "Oh, we can't do the work even if you were covered anyway because it's not an oil problem! Oh well!"

After weeks of anxiety and rage, I am drained.

Hilariously, I just received a recall notice in the mail about the Elantra's anti-lock brakes. They could leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short over time that could result in a significant overcurrent in the ABS module, increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire while parked or driving. I am advised to park my vehicle outside and away from parking structures until the recall remedy is completed. I just went to the website. "Remedy is not yet available." Fuck you, Hyundai.

eta: Okay, reading more and calling the BBB general phone, it looks like BBB Auto Line might not work for me because my car has to be covered by the warranty but Hyundai decided it isn't (and that is what I'm complaining about and Koeppel played with me about!). But no. BBB general phone gave me a phone number for "auto cap" to talk to people... and the number "can't be completed at this time" 3 times.

(btw, I started researching some of the many Hyundai warranties Auto Line mentioned before I found out Auto Line isn't an option, and it is wild. One is a powertrain problem... which I'm not covered on because I'm covered on nothing. I don't think I have a NuEngine, and I don't know if I have the Theta engine but, again, not covered anyway. None of this is explicitly my engine's oil problem. One is the antilock brake thing I'm told they don't have a remedy for yet! But maybe some people's cars already caught fire?)

So, I try to file a complaint about the company at BBB. I want Hyundai corporate and Koeppel Hyundai. But there are two possible addresses for Hyundai corporate and ::shoots self:: so that didn't happen.

elantra, car, hyundai
