Oh, Delicious Broomball. . .
How you make my body ache in so many interesting ways. But, at least I have loads of fun while doing it. Excellent games today. It took us a game to actually remember how to play. So, we lost the first game, but won the second very nicely. I felt very good about my playing as well. I even took some risks with falling and such. And I certainly fell quite a bit. The ice was extremely slick. But that's good. It kinda evens things out for everyone. Lots of good sportsmanship in our games, which was lovely. Lots of concern for well-being and such. But just good, hard play. And then some yummy Newcastle Brown Ale after we lost. Consolation beer. It would have been victory beer if we had won that game :)
It was so very nice to be up there and have my only obligation to be that of playing and hanging out. This event is usually a time where even when I wasn't on-duty, I would have to be so cautious to be watching who was drinking under-age and informing them that they couldn't and they would need to talk to the Associate Dean of Students on Monday. Very stressful and irritating since this event just promotes standing around and having a beer while watching the game. It's like Marlboro's version of football. It's just too bad it only happens over one weekend. But this time, I got to have a beer. I even had a sip of some Jim Beam with folks I used to have to be cautious of with the alcohol issue. But now they are all 21. It was a nice little celebration for them and me.
Plus, while a student, I was terrible at Broomball. It's so rewarding to come back to this game, which is so intrinsic to the overall Marlboro experience, and actually be pretty decent at it.
