He felt ashamed doing this. If his father saw him, he would surely be punished.
He'd just--wanted to know what it was like for his father to drink, because he loved it more than his own son.
He wasn't impressed by how bitter it tasted, so he smashed the bottle on the ground, not caring that pieces of glass tore at his skin, drawing blood. He wouldn't let the liquor win.
A few seconds later, he saw his father towering over him, a bottle of liquor in his hands. His father stared for a moment, took a sip, and simply walked away.
(The liquor had won, anyway.)
