Hello, I also am new here. I have a very old copy of the Ball Blue Book, a small document that is cram packed with information on how to can nearly anything. It belonged to my mother, and it is dated 1943. I scanned a few pages for the community. I love the old photos, so I've included several, and it was tricky knowing what "recipe" to scan. I've never heard of Arrowroot powder. I assume it's akin to corn starch. Any ideas? Looking at the recipes, none seem to list it. Maybe it's what the pudding mixes were made with.

The illustrations are charming, but see if you can pick out the unfortunate one that shows just how far we've come as a society.

Another of my favorite types of cookbooks! This one was published in 1942. What's interesting is how many recipes appear here that also appeared in the Knox recipe booklet. I guess there's only so much you can do with gelatin after all!
