Hello, and I have an offering

Hello, I also am new here. I have a very old copy of the Ball Blue Book, a small document that is cram packed with information on how to can nearly anything. It belonged to my mother, and it is dated 1943. I scanned a few pages for the community. I love the old photos, so I've included several, and it was tricky knowing what "recipe" to scan. I finally settled on scanning the summary page on how to can jelly.

In 1943 the United States was in the midst of World War II, and growing one's own garden and canning was encouraged. There was a shortage of the usual civilians available to do the work since many of them were off fighting the war. Hence, this dedication to the home canners of America:

1943!

I love how this lady looks. Lookit all those jars of canned stuff.

Jelly summary page.

Ball still makes canning jars, and you can still get books on how to can from them:
