Instead of keeping too many recipe books, I sometimes rip out the pages I like and just keep those. That means that I don't actually have the name of the 1970s British cookbook that I snagged this recipe from, except for the fact that it comes from The Midland Shires chapter. I thought it a sufficiently interesting recipe to post here:
Yanno, I don't think I'm getting enough caul in my diet. Also, about the name - I always thought that "faggot" in Britain referred to pieces of wood for the fireplace.
No pics of the actual recipe but I thought I'd include a lovely one on the other side of the page. Imagine eating a cold Melton Mowbray pork pie for breaky - I can barely down a cup o' cawfee. And don't you love toast racks - I have one but never use it. And I love, love, LOVE the heavy silver cutlery.
And butter curls? Well, I suppose if you have a maid, you can bother with butter curls.
