Taiyou no Kisetsu 4-5

Here's yet another capspam of Takki *cough* a commentary on a few more episodes of Taiyou no Kisetsu. Tatsuya and Eiko are such an adorable OTP, but I know there is going to be lots and lots of angst in the future :P. Once again, plenty of screencaps, so not dial-up friendly!

Heh, I guess I'm mostly making these kinds of very picspammy and livebloggy episode commentaries for myself, because through them I can always relive my favourite moments in a series. Of course it's also nice to share the best moments with other people :).

Episode 4

Yuki really is a piece of work, telling Tatsuya in a roundabout way that she missed hearing his voice, but on the next sentence saying that she has no intention of breaking up with Shinji. She's quite happy to have a fling with Tatsuya, but she intends to marry the man who can run her papa's company in the future. It's like she likes having her cake and eating it too (and now my mind went straight to gutter *blush* :P).

Kouhei accidentally meets Eiko in the hospital and the poor girl is so sad after the way Tatsuya abandoned her. It all ends up very awkward, when Kouhei asks her how she met Tatsuya and Eiko just turns her head away with tears in her eyes.

Eiko clearly wonders about Tatsuya's constantly changing behaviour: most of the time when he's with her he seems such a nice guy, but every now and then he acts in a complely different manner, ignoring her and suddenly going off with another girl after he asked Eiko to meet him.

LOL, I love it how all the staff members are spying on Eiko and Kouhei and are warning him about trying to seduce her. They seem very protective of her, but then again, she has been going there for years and years now :).

Hee! I loved the scene where Eiko's piano student rushed back into the room and urgently dragged her outside with her, and there was Tatsuya waiting to speak with her and to apologize for what happened earlier. Eiko looks so happy and radiant after his apology, and it's like a light goes on inside her when she regains her belief in him.

After Eiko's mother comes outside and sees them together, and then invites him in, it's clear to see that Eiko is very surprised at how nice her mother is being. Aww, Eiko and Tatsuya look so adorable together when he's talking about the beauty of his home town, as Eiko's mother clearly observes. Even though she puts on an amiable facade, and gives them the concert tickets and says they can go together, I think she's a bitter, bitter woman who is determined to ruin all the chances of happiness that her daughter might ever have :P. I just know she's planning to break up Eiko and Tatsuya in some way :/.

It's clear that immediately after Eiko's back is turned, her mother goes into her room in order to read her diary or to find any signs of her relationship with Tatsuya. The mother and the maid really freak me out!!! And poor Eiko thinks that her mother approves, because this is the first time she has let her go out with someone :(. I have a bad feeling about this...

But Eiko is so happy and excited that Tatsuya just can't resist her. He, too, is looking much happier and carefree with her than anywhere else. AWWWW! They are *so CUTE*! Makes me go KAWAII!!! whenever they are together :).

There is such longing on Tatsuya's face when he's looking at Kouhei and the other guys in the running team at their practice, because he remembers how it used to be when he was younger and always running on the beach with him. But when Kouhei comes up to him, he still tries to turn away from him.

It's very interesting that when Kouhei tells Tatsuya to forget about the bank that caused his father's death, he tells that he knows he's blaming the wrong thing, but still, all the rich kids are so far ahead of him that it seems like he will never catch up to them. Kouhei is very wise when he says Tatsuya doesn't need to catch up to anybody, since life isn't only about winning and losing. Still, Tatsuya ignores his words, because he has determined that he isn't going to end up like his father, poor and "living a disheveled life".

But the following scene of Tatsuya running at the beach and wondering in a voiceover on where he really is running to shows very well that he has lost his sense of direction. He no longer knows what to aim for: what is the right way and what are the important things in life that he should try to reach.

Gah! They way Tatsuya tells Yuki that he just wants to be close to her and that he won't cause her any trouble... And the way he's looking at her! *swoon* No wonder she's tempted!

The confrontation between Shinji's father and Tatsuya was very interesting. Tatsuya clearly didn't expect to see him brought that low when he entered the archive room. And then Shinji's father asks him what he's up to and says that they both are very similar in a way. Probably makes Tatsuya think at least a little about the choices he's made, I suspect.

UGH, Eiko's mother really is a horrible bitch! She asks Tatsuya into the house when Eiko is happily shopping for clothes to wear on her date and asks why he finds Eiko attractive and then asks if he loves her and when he doesn't immediately answer, accuses him of having "cruel selfish eyes". WHA...?! She is the one who is being selfish here, not him!!!

Poor Eiko looks so happy when she is on her way to the concert, but I see we are gearing up for another dramatic scene... Tatsuya is thinking hard on Eiko's mother's words and clearly thinking that maybe it's better after all if he gives up on his one chance at happiness Eiko, and goes back to his pursuit of Shinji's girlfriend :P *wants to smack him for that choice*.

*sniff* Poor Eiko is waiting and waiting outside the concert hall, while Tatsuya is away in a hotel room, seducing Yuki :P. Eiko even tries to call him, but of course there's no answer since he is busy with Yuki :(. And then it's time for the designated 'angsting in the shower' scene again :). As I said earlier, they are a clear indication of how dirty Tatsuya must feel after some of his actions. He isn't really attracted to Yuki, she's just a tool for him, but he did have sex with her anyway.

And afterwards, when he's taking Yuki home in a taxi, he sees poor Eiko still waiting for him in front of the concert hall...

And then Shinji spies Yuki and Tatsuya arriving together at her home in a taxi, because he was waiting for her outside her house.

I actually didn't expect that Tatsuya's betrayal would be revealed this early to Shinji, who ends up following Tatsuya and sees where he really lives! His ratty apartment house is clearly not the kind of place where a boy from a rich family would stay, so it's evident that Tatsuya hasn't been exactly truthful in the stories he's told to Shinji.

Tatsuya angsting and listening to Eiko's composition made me really sniffle, and then he was RUNNING AGAIN TO HER! EEEEEEEEEE!

Oooooh, angsty Tatsuya, thinking he's arrived too late! *drool*

And then Eiko sees him there...

And tells him that he's too late. And the next moment they are rushing into each other's arms and are desperately hugging while he's apologizing to her and in a voiceover saying he finally realized how much he really has come to care for her. *BAWL!*

Episode 5

AAAAHHHHH! What better way to start an episode than with some desperate hugging by the OTP of the series, with him apologizing to her and she crying in his arms! *swoooonnn!!!!!*

And then it seems things are ok between them again and they are going together to the beach to observe the sunrise. EEEEE, they really are so very ADORABLE whenever they are together!

Heeee! I loved the way she almost reached out to touch him when she thought he was asleep and how flustered she was when he noticed.

Eeuuww, it seems Eiko's mother has always made her for the accident that happend when she was 5 years old and didn't stay alone in a hotel room waiting for her mother, when it's clear that she is is at fault for leaving a child that young alone :P.

OH YEAH!!!! This is the episode set on the beach with Takki in the wet white shirt!!! *oogles* *takes numerous screencaps* *oogles some more*

Eeee, I love the way he turns to look back at her when she goes back inside her her house!

It's clear to Tatsuya that some of his lies have been caught up on when Shinji calls him and tells that he is waiting outside Tatsuya's place...

And then Tatsuya is telling the truth about him being poor to Shinji, but still lies about his relationship to Yuki, only telling that he went to her in order to get a job, because he was running out of money. He isn't yet ready to reveal his revenge plans, so he makes up a very plausible story that mixes truth and lies in it, and is something that Shinji might believe in.

It looks like Shinji still wants to be friends, which clearly surprises Tatsuya, and after Shinji leaves, he's again running, like trying to escape from all the things he has done. Um, why does he always have run in the middle of the street, I wonder?!

But, oh dear, the eyecandy and fanservice in this!!! I guess I'll end up calling this "The Takki Eyecandy Series" the way they fetishize him in this series :D. I mean, just look at all these caps I've been taking...

I think Tatsuya is starting to feel very conflicted in all his schemes, the more he learns about Yuki, Shinji, and Shinji's father. And, of course, his feelings for Eiko are complicating the matters as well.

Oh no, Eiko's mom is spying outside her door, hearing her arrange a meeting with Tatsuya, and the next day, right as Eiko is getting to leave, the evil maidservant comes to her room, confiscates her mobile phone and locks Eiko inside (very probably on her mother's instructions :P). It's like the classic scheme of good cop-bad cop, where Eiko's mother tries to look nice while designating Tamiyo-san to imprison Eiko and to act as her prison ward :P.

Hmm, Tatsuya's mother comes to the sports field, clearly thinking she'll find Tatsuya there. But Kouhei ends up protecting Tatsuya, saying he's somewhere else at the moment and that the team are busy right now and can't chat with her. But one of the rich guys spies them together... Can't be good news...

Then Tatsuya is waiting for Eiko, for a change.

When Eiko tries to cry for help Tamiyo slaps her and tells that her mother instructed her to do anything she can to keep Eiko from meeting Tatsuya again :P. Poor Eiko can't initially believe that, since it is her mother, after all, and she has always tried to show a nice face to her daughter even when she has always belittled her and her efforts at composing :P.

Tatsuya's mother and Kouhei are waiting for him at his home and then Shinji arrives as well. Everyone else feels extremely awkward at the scene, but his mother is only happily babbling that he has such nice friends. And then she hears that Shinji is the son of a director for Wakaba Bank and knows that something is up.

This episode also shows that maybe Shinji isn't as nice as he seems, since he he tells Kouhei, Tatsuya's oldest friend his friends are starting to become suspicious of Tatsuya, so Kouhei should stop hanging out with him. It's like he wants sole possession of Tatsuya and can't stand him having other friends.

Aww, Tatsuay is such an angsty, angsty boy trying to run away his past and the way his father killed himself. Just like his mother says, he is very like his father inside, but of late, he's done his best to ignore this and to run as far as he can from his childhood.

I guess part of Eiko's mother overprotectiveness and possessiveness come from her own guilt over causing her accident when she was a child, but Eiko is growing up and can't be sheltered forever. Everybody is going to have to confront some hurts in their lives, however much the parents try to protect them, but Eiko's mother is still determined to protect her and control her without even noticing how much she is hurting her daughter in the process.

Eee, Eiko manages a brief call to Tatsuya telling she was sorry, but was locked up, before her mother's voice is there should forget about him and the call is cut off.

Then he comes to a decision,

and is running off in order to save her. Her mother tries her best to guilt her into staying ('look what happened to your leg when you disobeyed me' - WHEN SHE WAS 5, FOR CHRISSAKES!!!!)

EEE, he forces his way into the house and then Eiko is telling her mother that she wants to make her own decisions now and that she won't be leaving abroad with her! Eiko's mother seems to be thinking only of her own bitter experiences, and can't consider that any man might be different from the one that abandoned her :P.

Tatsuya is very perceptive when he says that Eiko isn't weak at all, it's her mother who is the weak one, and asks Eiko to leave with him.

And then EIKO slaps that horrible maidservant of theirs!!! Go Eiko!!!! And the episode ends with them running away together. AAWWWWW!!!!
