Damnit!!!

My external hard disk is trying to die. Or maybe it is dead... Alex has just put it into the freezer for 20minutes in a final ditch attempt to bring it back.

So, then. That would be... all my MP3s (except those that are on my phone), all my video clips, and 2 full seasons of Japanese dramas and 2 half seasons of Japanese dramas... gone... Given that I had over 4 gigs of Japanese music, and over 3 gigs of non japanese music... plus that each drama episode is between 500-650Mb in size and there's approx. 12 episodes a season... it's a lot... and even if it were possible to redownload everything it'd take a long time to do so.

I'm not going to start screaming or anything like that... but I am slightly annoyed. Alex says he offered in the past to back up my external hard disk - it's not something I remember him offering...

It's one of those differences between Alex and I. To him, his documents and projects are completely important and music is a very poor secondary to that... I know he's offered to (and has) backed up my documents before, but he only once (a couple of years ago) backed up my music/videos. And there's been nothing since, because he didn't like using up the space (which was a lot less than we have now) to back up all my media files.

I mean I could be wrong. He might have offered. My memory isn't worth peanuts... but...

urgh!
I just hope this last attempt works!

One little other note. I don't know the full proceedure for determining if a person is clinically brain dead... but I do know one of them involves using ice water to try and deliberately trigger a response from the balance system. We do it in audiology... well more commonly it's warm and cool water, but occasionally the ENT asks for ice water.
I just find it interesting that in this last attempt we're using really cold temperatures to try and trigger a response of "life", even if it is just a machine.
