I was doing pretty good on updates, huh? But real life caught up and every other weekend has been with company pretty much and I've been playing a lot of Overwatch.
Overwatch both kept August interesting and took a lot of my time. The Summer Games was a really fun distraction, with Lucioball being a cool distraction. The loot system was a lot less than to be desired and I missed out on a couple of the items that I wanted, like Mercy's outfit and Zenyatta's victory pose. However, I got my #1 wanted skin with D.Va and something for Lucio to play Lucioball in, so I can't complain too much. I paid a little under $20 of Real Money, so I guess that's not too bad.
The hype of Overwatch got me in contact with Abby from Tokyo in Tulsa on Tumblr and we've been talking more or less daily ever since. She's cool, but a smol. She's off to school in France at the moment, so that's kind of exciting to get updates about.
Competitive Overwatch is a curious creature. Since it's team based, your team mates are -very- important, so that can make or break a match. I love the objective based nature and the demphasis on kills. It's addicting, often times very thrilling, but also frustrating when things don't go well. I think I'm pretty good, but I don't know how much that matters since I don't play on PC. I kind of want to give PC play a try...but I need to step up my machine a lot. But with desire to work on a game, maybe that's the inspiration that I need. More on that later.
I haven't loved an online shooter this much since Halo, though. While everyone has different abilities, it really comes down to you and your teammates play and nothing else.
The Halloween event also came and went and I made out about the same with spending a bit less money. I got Witch Mercy which was the main skin that I wanted and I'm -so upset- that I got Zenyatta's victory pose after being denied it for Summer. Grace, Joe, Bryan, and I even got to play and win a round of Junkenstein's while Grace was home for Fall Break.
Grace and I have bonded about Overwatch a lot. We did a Pajama Watch cosplay for AFest, played in the hotel room together, make jokes about the series, and she shares her fan art with me. Playing online with her is a lot of fun too. Sometimes I can be in a really bad mood and playing with her cheers me up.
