Oh no, you'll never break this heart of stone...

With the cockatrices dead, its victims return to normal.

Called, such as Liz, Wolfwood, Zhaneel, and the Warrior slowly revert back to their normal state of being. Their hearts start up again. Their lungs inflate with air. Their nerves come alive. One would never know they had ever been turned to stone in the first place, having suffered no long-lasting physical effects.

It's that they'd been stuck in a cold, unyielding body of stone that might leave its mark on the stone Called and villagers. It's no small thing to remain conscious and be unable to move, speak, or even scream in horror.

The squirrel that Eider's cockatrice had been feasting on also returns to flesh and blood, but with only half a body to come back to it dies as quickly as it returns.

Those villagers turned to stone that are still intact open their eyes with shock as they're freed. More than a few drop to the ground, weak in the knees, and tremble violently in the aftermath of their unnatural captivity.

Those smashed to bits have a less fortunate fate. Legs, pieces of arms, and torsos all reanimate. The eyes off one decapitated villager open, and its mouth opens in a soundless scream before it dies. The paths are littered with ragged pieces of the bodies of the villagers, leaving a feast for the crows and other scavengers that descend.
