Aaron's stuff is gone, and now our house is empty and undecorated. Amazing how different everything looks. Went to see "OK Go" at the Music Hall of Williamsburg last weekend. Yesterday morning on the way to work I walked past the CNN election headquarters. The teamsters were rolling their cables back into the satellite truck. Over in “Election Plaza” much the same thing was happening, although the US map was still showing on the ice. Outside my building there is a Peruvian band with pan pipes. They've been playing the "Last of the Mohicans" theme on a loop every 50 minutes or so. The other songs are hard to make out, but one definitely sounds like "White Christmas ( Read more... )

The subway I take to work lets out in front of the Lehman Brothers Building. This morning a mob of somber looking people was blocking the sidewalk and the building was locked down. My office is two blocks away, and I can see about a dozen news trucks parked on the street. Bad news ( Read more... )

Before Labor Day I went to see the US Open. Serena and Nadal played that night and destroyed their opponents. Yesterday Serena won the whole thing. I seem to have good luck seeing Open winners... a few years ago I saw Andy Roddick and he ended up winning. Last week I saw NBA star Emeka Okafor on the subway. Prospect Park is one of my favorite parts of the city. The past two summers I've seen concerts at the band shell. Both times it seemed certain to rain, only to clear up at the last minute. Yesterday The Jonas Brothers were taping something for TRL across the street. A crowd of 100 pre-teen girls screamed every 15 minutes for the entire day, which made it hard to concentrate.
