Tonight the church I grew up in had its annual Live Nativity and Open House. From 4:30 until 7:30 PM, members and friends dressed up as Joseph, Mary, shepherds, the angel, and the wise men, with the additional attraction of real live animals--a donkey named Pedro, and a herd of sheep!
We have music that plays in the background, as the wise men travel to Bethlehem, and leave their gifts for the Christ Child.
This year, a lot of visitors came by, and their little children had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with the Nativity scene characters. One grandmother was telling me that this was the best way she could tell her little grandkids what Christmas was really all about.
Yes, it was a cold night, but my heart is all warm and fuzzy--and I'm going to bed after I light the Advent wreath for devotionals, because this Wise Man needs her sleep.
And tomorrow evening is a night at home--with me and plenty of Christmas videos!
