I love all things otherwise unloved and forgotten.

I'm obsessed with abandoned and run down buildings, I have been since I was a kid. My latest favorite aspect is rusty roofs with perfect coloring and patters in the metal. There is tons of rust in the world, but GOOD rust is a thing worth celebration. I must start taking one of my digital cameras everywhere with me in my purse. I saw a gorgeous old railroad building, covered in vines, beautiful foundation, crumbling in all the right places, boarded up doors beaconing to me; begging me to pry the planks loose and uncover all it's secrets.

I'm fascinated by old factories built up like small cities run by dreams sprawling along the Key bridge. Lighthouses left to slowly crumble into the ocean, losing the battle against gravity and weather. Sunken boats full of barnacles and small fish barely visible beneath the waves. The thing I remember most clearly about going on a "gator boat ride" through the Everglades is the overgrown shacks with thier sunken porches and broken windows staring out at me like a child's gap toothed smile. I realized yesterday what a huge running list I have of favorite old barns, bridges, empty buildings and factories I've compiled in my life.

Tomorrow I'm making my last trip up to FSU to get my final load of stuff out of my room and clean it. Then I won't see the campus again until about January 30th, it's weird.
