I rarely get political anymore but I feel the need...

Am I the only one who is positively infuriated by every Bush/Cheney sign and bumper sticker that they see? Apparently Bush is leading in the polls, how in the name of weapons of mass destruction could this happen? It truly eludes me how anyone who hasn't been holed up in some mountain compound, cut off from news and spending all their time stock piling weapons and impregnating their pre-teen cousins could support him. I'm not attacking Republicans, I know and love a few (even they aren't voting for Bush). I was a Hanoi Kerry bumper sticker the other day, has the world lost it's mind? The man was a POW, not an "honored guest" like Jane Fonda was.

I'm so jaded when it comes to politics at this point. I am not wild about Kerry, but he'll do if it gets Bush out of office. My mom told me the other day "Some years you vote for someone, other years you just vote against someone." It makes my blood boil to think of all the environmental legislation that has been peeled away, the civil rights we've lost and this pointless fucking war that is killing off 19 year olds who just wanted college money. In some ways I think I get more radical with each passing year, my old motto used to be "work within the system" my new motto is "If you can't work within the system, then just work the system". I head more and more towards "The greatest happiness principle" with every passing day, I'm beyond morality; just give me results and joy.

If Baltimore City is a microcosm of the nation at large then we're all in trouble. The infrastructure is still rotting away, no one is held accountable when things sour and the schools are worse than ever. The roads are nearly unpassable, it's hard to find a business besides nail salons, bars, pawn shops, restaurants or thrift stores. The only nice section of it is meant for tourists and the homeless are all kept nicely away from the Inner Harbor (rotting, pointless, abandoned wreck of a place it was 20 years ago). I want to believe that life can get better, in Baltimore, in America; I just don't know if I can anymore.
