Torchwood: American Style?
Torchwood may be coming to America and not by way of DVD.
Hmm. As a Torchwood fan I gotta say... hell no.
Here's the problem -- what made Torchwood rock was not the cheesy fighting interstellar alien thing, it was what british television allowed it to do. Torchwood was very sexy -- as in nudity, sex, sexually charged situations, nontraditional relationships, an openly gay relationship that was not played for bigoted laughs. None of this will fly in America.
You can't have gay sex on the screen in America. You can't have nudity. You can't have perverse situations. Gay characters have to not offend our bigotry. American's are hung up on sex to the Nth degree. So all of that will be out.
What you can have in the US is lots and lots of violence and emotionally rending situations.
So Torchwood turns into 24 with aliens. YUCK.
