For
clavally, who had "with Ronon and Teyla on Earth" as one of her prompts.
This will be the last for today.
winter_elf, I would like to do more on my
john_farr story for you, but going through my notes I noticed that will be longer than anticipated (read will take a bit). I hope that's okay with you.
dodificus, now is the chance to give me a little prompt :) Otherwise I'll go through the comments you made on my fics and take it from there. (Prompt can be as simple as a genre or setting/location, though preferably nothing that doesn't require research, which happens to be the reason why
clavally doesn't get 16th century composer/architect McShep, although I was very, very tempted ;)
sgficfan, I'll flesh out the John turns into a woman fic idea for you, unless you have another prompt now.

Being with your people
"This is wonderful," Teyla declared. They were sitting on the almost empty veranda in a San Francisco restaurant with a nice view of the bay, and Teyla smiled widely at the view.
Ronon and John smiled at her in return.
Rodney commented, "You're saying that now."
Teyla raised an eyebrow. "I recall mentioning the beauty of this city before," she said.
"Well, yes. But that was the polite 'Your village looks so nice, please be our trading partners' kind of compliment."
She looked pointedly at him, but didn't deny it.
"We're all glad to go home, no need to be an ass about it," Ronon said to Rodney.
John gave him a look. Didn't Ronon know that they weren't talking about that in front of Rodney? Not since Keller had decided to stay.
"I'm just saying it's easier to enjoy a different place when you know you'll be able to go home again," Rodney said, apparently not upset.
John inwardly sighed in relief. He'd hoped that Rodney wouldn't fall into a pit of despair after the breakup. With all the work he'd been doing in the last two weeks, it was hard to tell if he was just distracting himself or if he really had gotten over it so easily.
"It is," Teyla agreed. "And I appreciate that you understand that. I think your world is very interesting and having spent more time here now, it is more easy for me to see where certain differences in ways of thinking are coming from. But as interesting as it is, the Pegasus Galaxy is my home as much as Atlantis is."
"Your home is with your people," Ronon said, looking out at the bay.
"Sometimes the question is who you consider 'your people'," Rodney said. "Take Jennifer. For her, her people is her father. Whereas Sheppard here had to be forced to visit his brother."
John sat up at that. He was glad that Rodney could talk about his ex without bitterness, but why was he suddenly dragged into this. "Hey," he said. "I was busy. I didn't see you clamoring to visit your sister."
"That's because I'll freely admit that neither her nor Canadians in general are 'my people' in the sense that Ronon meant."
"Then who do you consider your people in that sense?" Teyla asked.
John was a bit curious too. Was it the Atlanteans? His scientist department? Was Rodney a people of his own?
"You," Rodney said, looking at her, then Ronon, and then, after dropping his gaze for a second, John.
John didn't know why Rodney hesitated with him. He had to admit it hurt. He looked out at the bay, hoping the others wouldn't see it.
"John," Rodney said.
John turned to him, Rodney's use of his first name still rare enough to make it special.
Rodney looked at him for a long moment. "Mostly you," he admitted.
John's heart skipped a beat. So the dropping of the gaze hadn't been hesitation. John wasn't sure what else it had been. He knew what he wanted it to be, but it was and always had been out of reach for him. Or so he'd thought at least.
"Is that why Jennifer's staying?" Ronon asked.
They all turned to him.
"I wasn't here when it happened. Was surfing with Amelia," he explained.
"No," Rodney said stiffly. "Jennifer's father is ... not as young as he used to be, and she wants to be closer to him for now. She asked me if I wanted to stay with her. I hesitated long enough for her to take that answer as no."
So that was how it had gone down. John hadn't known for sure.
"Would it have been yes?" Teyla asked carefully.
Rodney looked over to John for a moment, before answering her, "No."
"Because of Sheppard?" Ronon asked.
"Could we stop this interrogation?" Rodney asked, slightly irritated.
John's heart kept beating at a faster than normal pace. But he didn't dare to say anything.
"I was just asking," Ronon said. "We wouldn't say anything. We know about Don't Ask, Don't Speak."
"Tell," Teyla corrected him.
John's eyes widened at how casually they talked about it. He'd never mentioned it to either Ronon or Teyla. And they were implying that Rodney meant ...
"There's fraternization rules too, but that's hardly the point," Rodney said.
Exactly, John thought unhappily.
"What is the point?" Ronon asked.
Rodney glared at him. Then he looked over to John. "Could you say something to that? You're awfully quiet today."
"Uhm," John said. "The point is that Rodney is straight."
"Right. What? No! That's not the point. The point is that you are straight," Rodney said, turning to him.
John looked at Ronon, then Teyla before turning to Rodney. "I'm not."
Rodney stared at him.
"I'm not," John repeated, almost unable to breathe.
Ronon leaned over to Rodney, put a hand on his back and shoved him out of the chair.
John's heart was pounding so hard now that he probably couldn't hear a thing right now, but luckily Rodney didn't say anything. Instead, he walked up to John, leaned down, took his face in his hands and kissed him.
John kissed back without any conscious decision to do so. Vague thoughts of being in public didn't stop his body from moving up and his arms from wrapping themselves around Rodney and pulling him closer. He opened up his mouth, deepening the kiss.
Eventually, Rodney let up. "This is hell on my back," he said, wincing as he straightened.
John stood up and kissed him again. Because he could. And Rodney kissed him back enthusiastically.
"John, Rodney," came Teyla's voice softly.
They slowed down and turned to her, still embracing.
"Do we wish to order now?" she asked, looking over to the waitress who had come.
"Yes, food is good," Rodney said, gaze dipping to John's mouth for a second.
John smiled. "Yes, let's order."
They sat down again, hands brushing as they parted.
As Teyla made her orders, Ronon grinned at them. "It'll be good to be home."
Looking at a smiling Rodney, John thought that it really would.
