Invitro meat - better for the cause?

I know this has been posted once before but there have been only several (about 10 or so) comments on it, and I’m really wondering what the majority of people think about the matter.

I was reading up on something else on wikipedia about cloning (or something similar I can’t recall) when I came across the article of in vitro meat.

Well, I ( Read more... )

That does make sense, however, in my opinion, things are done in gradual steps. Especially when it comes to people who are trying to make major changes that a majority of people don't see, such as slavery and sexism hundreds of years ago.

I agree with that statement completely. However I still think what's being ignored or not acknowledged is the fact racism, sexism, and speciesm will always be alive - you said if yourself. If people truly cared about the animals lives, whether or not free range meat or in vitro meat existed, they'd be vegan or vegetarian. But there is that part of the population that will never change, so why not give them an alternative that is far less harmful for animals and themselves? Like you've said, you can force your belief, but you won't be able to change all the minds that are. We should try and push people in directions that cause the least amount of harm on any living being.

Actually that is the point, it does lesson the harm a considerable amount if done properly. Instead of living a life on confinement in a dark, depressing cage. The few animals used would be able to roam, and when the flesh taken, would only be a small scrape, barely even noticeable. Then that creature is able to go about it's way doing what it loves to do.
That is a very interesting quote, and I can agree with that entirely. If I had to label myself in either category it would be that of a recovering speciest. There are different levels to each one and yea, I may be on a lower level. But that doesn't mean I'm not trying to strive for the same or similar principals that are considered viable by vegans.
That is your judgment, and you'll never know the true answer to that, but I can offer an answer to the "ghetto" thing you've mentioned. I agree, and for someone to say that isn't far from a common truth. I dislike it when people speak ghetto when they can speak legibly just fine (this is not to be confused with the accent or tone that a majority of black people have, but the actual clarity and ).

"-so i replied because you continue to piss me off because you seem to just not get it. for myself, i know I'm fine with debate so long as you STOP JUSTIFYING EATING ANIMAL PRODUCTS."

And, based on your last comment you're obviously not fine with debate except when someone agrees with you completely on what you believe in. "I'm only fine with debate as long as you don't try and justify your point." Is what I got from your last statement. Although I could be wrong, and I'm comfortable enough to admit that.
