Invitro meat - better for the cause?

I know this has been posted once before but there have been only several (about 10 or so) comments on it, and I’m really wondering what the majority of people think about the matter.

I was reading up on something else on wikipedia about cloning (or something similar I can’t recall) when I came across the article of in vitro meat.

Well, I researched it a little bit and when I went with some friends of mine to a local café, it came up in conversation, not from me however. Most of the people that were at the table were vegan or vegetarian, and there were many different views on the whole matter.

Most of the vegans thought that exploitation of any kind was wrong, and from their belief system - that’s a reasonable assumption. However there were some vegans that thought it was the lesser of two evils. Of course this side was persecuted for not being fully committed to the vegan belief.

I’d have to say I agree with both sides equally.  The exploitation of animals in a situation that could be averted or that ultimately has no long benefit for our species or that creature’s species shouldn’t be allowed. Especially when that animal is deprived of acting out its natural instincts in a happy and healthy environment.

However, I believe that while there is such thing as a utopian idea or society, it will forever be something that is short-lived or never obtainable. While someone persecutes another person for doing something they believe to be moralistically wrong, they in turn will eventually do something wrong or disagreeable that is of equal value if not more to the person’s actions they’ve condemned. This goes for anything.

So when it comes to vegans , vegetarians, or onmnivores condemning in vitro meat, aren’t you in a way supporting the continued mass slaughter of animals by not inviting a method that saves/spares more lives? No matter how hard one tries, they’ll never be able to convince the entire world, maybe even the majority to their idea or beliefs. This shouldn’t prevent people from spreading the word of animal abuse, as it has even convinced me to become a vegetarian, however it wont work on everyone.

Overall, I think that in vitro meat isn’t horrible, as the animals used, from what I’ve read, aren’t killed or tortured. Plus it can be a way healthier alternative for people who do consume meat and it will use up less materials and land so it’s good for the environment! Well that ‘s my opinion in the matter, what’s yours?

Also to clear some things up. I'm not trying to offend anyone with this entry, and I haven't  been trying to do so with previous entries either. This is a honest question expressing my honest opinion in the debate.  I understand where a majority of you guys are coming from, and I promote most of your beliefs and actions, however there are some things I feel I'll never fully agree with. Even, so it's not because I'm a "troll" as some of you have labeled me, but because I have a different set of beliefs. I do respect your opinions and beliefs and I do apologize for any offense I've committed.

why???, opinion-test tube meat, opinion-trolls
