Invitro meat - better for the cause?

Aug 18, 2008 18:29

I know this has been posted once before but there have been only several (about 10 or so) comments on it, and I’m really wondering what the majority of people think about the matter.

I was reading up on something else on wikipedia about cloning (or something similar I can’t recall) when I came across the article of in vitro meat.

Well, I ( Read more... )

But there are "opinion" sections. I don't honestly see what I did wrong here as I did list this in the appropriate section as far as I'm concerned.

"This is a honest question expressing my honest opinion in the debate"

This is not a debate forum. We aren't "on the fence" like you are. You seem incapable of respecting that.

Furthermore, have you not noticed that your posts/comments are NEVER well received? So far, everything you post only produces flaming and disgust. I have seen several people call for you take your "opinions" elsewhere, and many more simply ignore you. I don't see how you can glean important information from any of that. Well, actually, you cant, because you're a troll. Now, shoo.

you continually post things that are essentially asking us, as vegans, to defend our veganism. its shitty, its disrespectful to this community, its bad manners, its rude to all of the vegans who have to wade through your bullshit thinly veiled attempts at vegan debate. if the vegan debate community isn't active enough for you, suck it up and get the fuck over it. i'm sick of seeing posts on here that attempt to goad vegans into justifying their veganism. use a little common sense when you post. though i'm pretty sure, after SO MANY TIMES and SO MANY PEOPLE TELLING YOU its inappropriate, that you are doing it on purpose. i really wish you would stop posting here.

this might clear up future "questions" you could have:

ITS NEVER OKAY TO EXPLOIT ANIMALS.

I was still wondering though, I've seen some posts that have been totally ignored and when posted again, are full of comments. So I thought I'd give it a go and see what people thought about the whole thing.

I don't care eiter, but I'm not trying to convince people to change their ways here or anywhere else, merely to find out what their opinions are on certain topics and why they think the way they do. Especially on advancements on things like in-vitro meat which could ultimately help your cause ( ... )

That does make sense, however, in my opinion, things are done in gradual steps. Especially when it comes to people who are trying to make major changes that a majority of people don't see, such as slavery and sexism hundreds of years ago ( ... )

I so don't want to be snarky, I really really don't....

but furry art is a crime against animals way worse than invitro meat.

Hmm, maybe because I'm fairly new to this community and don't have the history, but I didn't perceive this post to be aggressive of provoking. I think it's wonderful to have dialogue with omnis who don't understand our points of view.

To the OP, if you would have asked me this question when I first went vegan, I would have supported it. Back then, I was vegan solely for animal rights purposes. Now, on the other hand, I would have to disagree. Not only are animal rights a top priority in my veganism, but I've come to believe that humans don't need (or take it a step further, shouldn't have) meat. IMO, invitro meat sort of mocks the animals' lives. Just my thoughts.

It can be wonderful, but a lot of us have to do it constantly and it gets a bit tiring. So also nice to have a few places where we can take a break from endlessly having to justify ourselves.

That's valid. I understand.

I agree, I love debating, in a respectful way of course. Understanding or applying opinions from different viewpoints is what I ultimately try to do, especially if they're for the better good.

You were very respectful to me and I'm glad that you realized that I wasn't trying to snark, be a troll, or come off as a douche bag, and I respect your last statement as well. I'd be glad to speak with you in the future and maybe you could help me better myself in veganism.
