Made me really upset.
Rummaging Raccoon Drops Treat
A raccoon rummaging near a dumpster near a school was trapped under a large container. The raccoon struggled to free itself and dropped a lollipop it had scavenged from the trash bin. A young boy watching the incident picked the lollipop up and put it in his mouth. The raccoon tested negative for rabies.
So basically this means the raccoon was euthanized so that its brain could be tested for rabies. I know it's routine that raccoons captured are tested for rabies, but I just thought this was really unfair. Why wasn't anyone watching this kid? If the kid hadn't put the lollipop in his mouth the raccoon would still be alive today.
