This was in today's newspaper.

Made me really upset.

Rummaging Raccoon Drops TreatA raccoon rummaging near a dumpster near a school was trapped under a large container. The raccoon struggled to free itself and dropped a lollipop it had scavenged from the trash bin. A young boy watching the incident picked the lollipop up and put it in his mouth

For some reason, this has really disturbed me. I could launch into a full rant on why, but I tried doing that and it looked pathetic.

Suffice to say, this world we live in makes me very sad sometimes. :o(

poor raccoon...this makes me very, very sad. poor raccoon was just enjoying a lollipop and some dumb kid who nobody cared enough about to watch came along and put the thing in his mouth, so that means the raccoon has to die. that's just not fair.

This would only be fair if they also euthanize humans who swipe candy.

Teacher: Traps Tommy under a bin so he can be later removed and 'tested' for rabies.

They really need to invent another way to test for rabies besides necropsy. Poor raccoon and poor pets who get bitten by a wild animal and are unvaccinated and then the owners just have to wait and see as far as rabies is concerned.
