YUMMMM I haven't had the chance to try Daiya yet. Is it melty and good tasting or does it taste starchy and drab like most vegan cheeses?

daiya is nothing at all like other vegan cheeses. it definitely melts, gets stretchy, has the best flavour, is fantastic. highly recommended.

A lot of people do like it, but I thought it was disgusting! Hands down the worst vegan cheese I've had, it was incredibly slimy, and weirdly sharp, but not in a good way. It reminded me a lot of oily raw bread dough, both in texture and taste.

The pie itself looks great, didn't mean to imply anything bad about it, just that I disliked Daiya.

I haven't found any premade kinds I enjoy particularly, but have liked a number of homemade "cheesy" things, using nutriyeast and/or nuts and/or a roux.

When I was eating the pie I was thinking that in absence of Daiya this stuff would go really well with it.
