A weekend in York and a few days in Uxbridge...

Jan 27, 2009 08:23

So I arrived back from Rome with one night to spend in Uxbridge. Phyllis and I went out to the campus pub and had a few beers with some of her friends. We headed back early and cooked dinner and went to bed to get up and on the train early in the morning.

We hop a fairly glorious non stop train to York and arrive a little over 2 hours later. And Jade is waiting for us at the station! We head back over to her place to drop our stuff off and get settled in. The tour guide Jade takes us for a walk along the wall and gives us all the gory details of the history of York. We munch on pasties and wander around for a bit and head back to her place to get ready for the night. She took us to a pub that served Vegan sausage. YUM. We stuffed ourselves silly and had a few pints at a few pubs and then headed in for the night.

We woke up semi early to go have tea service at Bettys. It is apparently a really famous tea house that serves all kinds of dainty sandwiches and cakes along with obviously, tea. We all had fantastic meals and had dessert as well. We walked our meals off by going to the Minster and wandering town a bit more. We did a bit of grocery shopping and then went home and I made veggie tacos and Jade made vegan yorkshire pudding. It was all very delicious and we settled and watched a movie before heading out. Went to a few small pubs and had a few pints and then ended at a pub very close to their house.

Woke up somewhat early again to make it to the train museum before we had to take our train home. It was much more awesome than any of us expected. We got to see steam engines in motion, climb under trains, and walk through a few. They even had the royal train in there, with its fancy decor. And just for my mom I took a photo of me with the 9 3/4 sign from Harry Potter. It apparently lives there when its not being used for the film. We wandered back to the house to pick up our stuff and we were on our way home by 3. When we got back into London we had glorious noodle soup and took the underground to Uxbridge. We lazed around the house a bit and then got ready to go to the pub Phyllis works at, The Cluvert. Met up with a bunch of people there and had a few too many cocktails and then took a taxi home to pass out.

So far since I've been back in Uxbridge I have been doing a whole lot of laundry and packing and such. Not too exciting.... But it needed to be done. Tomorrow evening I head to Berlin for the weekend and then I will be headed home on Monday.

XOXO
