The AO3 uploader hasn't been working for me recently for LJ (I understand that this is a general problem), so I have been uploading some old fic from my webpage, which does not work as smoothly but does work. Minisinoo's poll on current and old canon in fanfic writing (look, go read the poll, it will make sense) got me thinking about different ways of ignoring canon. I thought I'd write about them here rather than wibble on about the X-Files in her journal.

I've been re-reading some of my own fic recently, which is surely one of the most self-indulgent things ever. But in between wincing at the editing mistakes and poor phrasing, I was struck by how mean the Kryceks that I write are. Really.
