It'd been a few days now since Yukari's birthday had passed on the nineteenth, and thanks to the kraken, she'd had to delay her plans

[Before people arrive, Yukari can be seen on the shores of the new beach. Things are mostly set up, but she's supposed to be cleaning. It's been so long since she's seen the sun or the shore though that she seems mesmerized. Someone should probably snap her out of it and tell her to get to work already--]

Consider her SNAPPED! Out of it, that is.

[Yukari probably had no way of knowing exactly how many anxiety attacks she gave Simon with that invitation. One, he'd never been to a party. Any type of party. At all. He'd never even had a birthday party of his own for crying out loud. Two, he'd never been invited to one, let alone by a complete stranger. Three, well, he hadn't even been here two days yet. And because he wasn't familiar with technology to the point that he knew it was possible to send a blanket invite to everyone on the comm network, well, he just felt like this Yukari person was being extremely friendly and ohgodWHATDO?!

Eventually he decided to throw caution to the wind and go to this "birthday party" he'd been invited to, despite the very loud, very persuasive voice in the back of his head practically shrieking not to go because it would end badly. Because although people here certainly seemed to be a bit...different than the usual individuals in Gotham, so far the general unease and dude-you-look-like-a-slasher-villain anxiety was still common enough. [He thinks she gave him heart attacks? She's just about read to have one herself, with him suddenly sneaking up on her like that. But then again, she was so absorbed in the scenery, there's...pretty much no greeting that would've avoided that kind of reaction.

...She kind of realizes this, so she takes a few deep breaths and tries to calm down, studying him.

Why is he wearing that mask...?]

H-Hello. Um, no, you're fine, I...I was just going to clean up a bit before people start coming.

[...She wishes she had the other SEES members with her at the moment, but. Welp. She's just going to have to take care of herself.]

[Well it's not like he has present to give her. Or would know what to get her without some seriously intrusive mind reading. Helping her get everything cleaned up is probably the next best thing, right?]

Um. Don't you wanna take off that mask, though? It's a little early for Halloween.

[Helping set up? Being on the surface? Akihiko is all over that. He's setting up a table right now and pulling a tablecloth over it - it's a party, parties need training!! refreshments. Tables are sturdy and suitable for such tasks.

As much as he'd love to be running around the surface training!!!, a party for a fellow member of SEES is just as important, especially after all the chaos. He calls over to Yukari-]

Hey, Takeba - you still with us over there?

[--His voice startles her, really. She turns quickly, recognizing her senpai right away; and she also notices the table he's set up already. Wasn't she about to do that just now...?]

H-Hey! Thanks...

[Staring for a moment now, in awe--but then she shakes her head and finally approaches him. She helps spread the tablecloth and unwrinkles it some.]

You seem to be spacing out a lot... [His brow furrows a bit, putting a hand on his hip.] You alright, birthday girl?

Oh--no, I'm fine!

[Fffff, she gives him a bit of a smile.]

Just...feels like I haven't been to the beach in a while, trapped in that bubble, y'know.

It's pretty weird, after getting used to being surrounded by it.

[Well, they are still surrounded by the ocean water. But being stuck under it is something completely different than living on an island...]

Yeah, I suppose it has been a lot longer for you, hasn't it? I've only been down in that bubble... What? A month?

[Akihiko turns his gaze skyward - even though the bubble does a decent job of providing liveable conditions, it still wasn't outside. Even if it could mimic the same behaviours as the world above the sea, there was still something to be said for the warm sun and the waves lapping at the shore.]

...Yeah. Time flies, huh?

[She lets out a sigh; and after she smooths out the table cloth, she gives it a firm pat before glancing back at the elevator--waiting for some of the locals to come up with the food she ordered. Hopefully it'd be enough...]

I wonder if we'll ever get to go back.

Though some days...I dunno if I want to.

[Akihiko looks over to her once more. On one hand, there's still so much that needs to be done back home - especially considering what Yukari's told him. Some kind of trouble at the dorm back home, something that was supposed to take place that day... He couldn't simply let that go unattended. Yet at the same time...]

...Yeah. I think I know what you mean...

[There were people here who who needed them too...]

Well. I guess it doesn't matter much right now.

I'm glad we were able to help out with the kraken, anyway.
