Well the date completely came and went without me thinking about it, but this past Sunday 12 August marked the one year anniversary since we've been up here in Los Angeles. It's ironic and sort of telling, but we spent that day in Santa Barbara haha which is a story in itself..
About 50 miles from Santa Barbara, while driving in the fast lane of the 101 , my car started feeling really funny. We quickly realized that it was more than just a poorly paved road and instead, a flat tire. So I cut over to the right hand shoulder and stopped the car. Getting out, we saw that the front passenger tire was completely flat. Thankfully we were able to call AAA and a guy showed up rather quickly to fix it. The funny thing is, some random man stopped before hand and asked if we needed help. There's actually people like that in the world!! We thanked him and let him know that AAA was coming, but hopefully a little bit of good karma comes back at him for his willingness to do a good deed.
Now, after the spare tire was put on, we debated on what to do. We both wanted to continue to Santa Barbara, but I started feeling really uncomfortable driving 50 mph on the freeway all the way up there. Thankfully, B had the good idea to go to a Sears Auto Center. With the help of
GOOG 411 and our nav system, we found one in Ventura. They originally were going to fix the flat, but it turned out it was unrepairable :-/ Soooo we ended up buying a new tire for $70.00... I wasn't happy about it, but I just wanted to get it taken care of and enjoy the rest of the day. And that we did...
It was soooooo nice to just be in a different city.. different people, scenery, energy, everything.. We relaxed on a
grassy area of East Beach right next to a sort of lagoon. To lay there and close your eyes and hear nothing but the ocean, wind in the palm trees, and muffled chatter of a few people is something that you can't get in LA very easily (if at all).
Since we got up there kind of late, after staying at the beach a while it was about time for dinner. So we walked up and down
State St. looking at the various restaurants. Oh, and we walked right by
Minnie Driver lol she was with some friends. She was looking down at the ground and looked kind of sad or depressed. Who knows, maybe she just had some bad shrimp at a restaurant haha
We ended up going to a restaurant called
Bay Cafe which was pretty good. And then it was time to drive back home. Overall, a disastrous start, but ended up a nice excursion.
Let's see..... what else to update about? OH! Our apartment managers are leaving! The 12th was their last day (again ironically). One of the managers isn't too bad, but the other one is a big annoying greasy arrogant mess.
Anyway, I think that's it for now. Oh, and this whole weather getting up to high 90s can stop anytime now. Thanks!
