I know you've all been waiting in anticipation, but here is Indiana Day 2. Most of this day was spent driving around just a bit - seeing my Mom's old high school,
as well as a cemetery for no reason.. seriously.. it's like this freaky Adams Family tradition of ours that we end up in cemeteries pretty much every day while we're in Indiana. ....don't ask.
Enjoy!

Indiana - Day 2
27 July 2007 - 11:46PM Central Time
Last night we didn’t get to my Grandma’s house in
Wabash, until after 5AM. That meant I was up for approximately 22 hours straight. Needless to say, I was tiiiiired. Basically, my mom & brother’s flight was supposed to arrive at 9:55PM. Instead, because of delays, they didn’t get in until 12:23AM. This meant I got to know the Indianapolis airport really well in the nearly 7 hours I waited there.
Anyway, after they got in and we got the luggage, and car rental (Lincoln Towncar for $10 a day!) we were on our way. Unfortunately, one of the guys at the car rental place gave us different directions, which looked quicker than what my mom had known. Turns out it either didn’t work, or we missed the exit to take in order to get on to another state route…. And then we ended up in the middle of cornfields on either side with no visible light in sight. Basically, it was like a scene from
Signs. At one point I shouted out because I thought my mom was about to drive OFF the road and INTO a field. Turns out it was just an optical illusion or my contacts were blurring, or I was delirious. Funny, nonetheless! But, we made it so all was well in the end.
Today we slept in, then just had an easy day really. We drove around to look at the sights. And by sights, I really mean the BRAND NEW SUPER WAL MART:
which is going in ACROSS the street from the current Wal Mart, because the current one is apparently not on a big enough lot. Seriously. This is the talk of the town. Unfortunately, because it’s going to be a “Super” Wal Mart, it could potentially put some of the grocery stores in town out of business.
We also stopped by and went into the new Walgreens (yes….seriously). Another talk of the town, though not so much as the SUPER WAL MART! We had dinner at
Ponderosa Steakhouse. Their buffet was overall pretty decent surprisingly. Though, I don’t see why it’s necessary to include bacon in EVERYTHING, even the fruit salad.. haha I kid, I kid. But yeah, folks out here love them some bacon. And of course, a day wouldn’t be complete on a trip in Indiana without going through a cemetery. And yes, there were several people my mom and grandma knew.
Now we’re home, and I’m actually pretty tired. Looking forward to sleep time :) I have no clue what we’re doing tomorrow. We have several things on the agenda, but no particular order. Although, tomorrow evening, my mom is going to her 40th high school reunion.
OK, I guess that’s it for today.
