My week so far ...
This week my partner decided to take a week off because her in-laws were in town. So I'm left on doing the business on my own. Well, I didn't really do much of my own work, instead other personal items and projects had to be taken care of. Gally and I had our P&I this past Tuesday for our Condo. I must say, it is tres nice :P The view is spectacular looking over to the Markham Park. And in between some buildings I can see the CN Tower the size of a dime turned sideways.
My parents decided to expand the driveway and redo the front garden. As the first time around, our garden was small... and the trees grew too close to the house and too large over the past 18 years.
The driveway is now interlocked, and looks nice, but now partially riuned. This is a result of bad delivery for our next project. As my mom and I went shopping for landscape products, we decided to purchase some frontonac rocks (river rocks, really REALLY BIG river rocks) to give the garden a more natural look rather then building blocks. This is for a couple reaons, no or very little foundation is required, rocks can be placed any anyway you want it and could look pretty nice. Where as interlocking stones, must have a lot of foundation and if one stone is out of place, the whole wall would look like ass. Also, the river rocks are cheaper. The downside is, these are really bloody heavy rocks, which I have to watch myself or ask help to manuever around. We also ordered about 6 yards of dirt and a few trees. Flower will come at a later time.
So the delivery for all these items was this afternoon. The instructions were, put the dirt on the driveway, and the rocks on the grass. Simple enough instructions, however, they got this backwards, the dumped the dirt on te grass and almost put the rocks on the driveway. There's a fucking reason why I asked to put the items where I stated. Rocks on the driveway will scar the interlock, dirt won't. However, they not only dumped the dirt ont he grass, they dumped it all over the interlock, the flower bed, the grass and some on the public side-walk. Not only THAT... because the interlock is new and the gravel underneith has not settled, they rolled the truck right to the edge and and seperated interlock, so now it's all falling apart. People trying to be smart, I tell ya. Fuck, that's why there's instructions.
Whatever it takes, they're putting that driveway back togather properly, none of this half ass job.
So our next project is to build a deck in the back. Not sure how complicated this is, but I think I'm up for the challenge.
