the visits, they do blur

May 10, 2006 16:43

my brain cells really aren't firing like they used to. for the past month i've only had one visitor-less weekend, and my memories of the events are turning to mush. :p within that small span of time...

A monster of a post! I applaud thee!

Wow, reading your posts makes me feel like a loser. My social calendar is so empty compared to yours. I have to make up some random appts with ppl to seem half as busy...

Yes! I got into GW! Insane that three new ppl are moving into DC all at once, isn't it? Anyway, did Singe have to be added to the lease or does management not really care?

Anyway, this will be an interesting summer!

what are you talking about, you guys were totally busy social wise when we came to visit you in florence!! :p

singe has to be added to the lease to make it official official. we were told to wait until the beginning of next month when my current lease renewed though... not sure exactly why since i don't need him on my lease to afford the apt. does this mean i might've had to wait an entire year if my lease had alreaday renewed before singe decided to get on it?? i never thought about such things, i thought you could just add someone on whenever since you can take them off whenever too.

yeah... a lot of bike riding too. remember wes' hybrid bike that you road? jake bought it off of him, plus he'll be doing the ms150 with us supposedly, so we can all "train" together during the summer. :p

Hii I don't know you but I love your food pictures and I noticed you are in DC! I will be there for this whole summer interning and living at GWU dorms. I don't really know my way around so I would really welcome any restaurant or grocery store recommendations, if it's not too much trouble. :) -Kathleen

hey kathleen!!

sorry for the late reply, i haven't been very good with keeping up with lj comments lately. :p

very exciting that you're going to be at the GWU dorms!! it's in a great location of and you'll be able to walk to most everywhere without problems!! i think you'll immediately find out from your fellow interns that there are only two grocery stores near you, whole foods and a safeway. well.. there's also a dean and deluca's too, but i don't think that really counts. :p

i can recommend restaurants too, but depends on what you're looking for. :) and if you're into volleball (random i know), my bf can hook you up with the local area vball groups! they're always looking for good female players.

Thanks so much! I'll probably be frequenting whole foods. I was wondering if there were any ethnic food stores or farmers markets around the area as well. As far as restaurants go, I'm a poor college student so maybe..cheap good food? haha difficult I know. I also started really liking Korean food recently..like BiBimBop (sp?) Unfortunately, my volleyball skills are such that the only benefit in recruiting me would be for me to play on (sabotage) the opposing team. :)

hmm ethnic food stores... actually the last chinese grocery store in chinatown actually closed not too long ago, and i'm not aware of too many others right in dc proper. fortunately, there are a lot within metro reach, especially near where i live which is right outside the DC line in MD.

off the top of my head....

wheaton on red line = TONS of ethnic food, but it's a good 40+ min metro ride for you from foggy bottom. grocers within 1-4 block radius: 2 vietnamese, thai, korean, filipino, and jewish.

bethesda on red line (this one will be closer to you) = 2 japanese grocers, one with some of the best and cheapest take out sushi in the area. :p

the chinese and most of the large korean grocers are in suburb VA or MD.

as for farmer's markets, you have one right in GWU! well.. ok it's right around foggy bottom metro. :p every wednesday, but it's sort of small. also a large one at the dupont stop. actually, check out this link for all the markets in the fresh farm series, all are near metros and most are very near you ( ... )
