Yesterday evening, myself and superexposed have had some coffee at Café Tin Tin Tango in Töölö, where I also had a (severely) scaled-down version of ploughman's lunch. Thence we proceeded to Kuu Kuu in Museokatu (also in Töölö), where some drinks were to be had. One thing I was immediately aware of was that the music they played at Kuu Kuu was quite probably the very same karaoke disk we had at emmmo's last Wednesday - what an odd coincidence, I thought. I finally got home at around 0200 today, quite knackered, but nonetheless in good spirits.

Back in Oulu, as I was passing the river on my way back from keskusta earlier this evening, there was quite a spectacle to be seen.

The photo doesn't really do justice to the actual setting. The roar was quite loud (which I liked), there was a lot of spray being kicked up, and I could feel the ground shake as I was standing on the embankment in the left-hand side of the picture. I would think the flow rate was in the order of around 20 cubic meters per second.

One cannot help but wonder what was the reason for opening said sluice gate, because there has been no major rainfall in the last few hours. One seems to recall the last time they had to open that gate was when they had to remove a dead person that got caught in the power station turbine on the Alakanava side.
