I’m a bit flabberghasted. A few weeks ago, Keith Mander deleted his latest blog posts - until the most recent post was from June. Which was before the whole Lotrff.com fiasco. If you really must use Livejournal as archive for your fanfiction, at least do everyone a favour and tag. Or make a fic list. Or use the memories function.

You can’t in all seriousness expect people to have the time and patience to click through your entire journal in the slim hope to find a certain fandom, pairing or fic.

I’ve written about Fanlore before, repeatedly actually. When the wiki went life, I was very excited about it. On the one hand, a place to record all aspects of fannish history sounds like an amazing thing. On the other hand, it was a new thing to try out, because I had never worked on a wiki before. I think in the wake of LJ deleting inactive journals, I can in good conscience once again pimp the good old fanfiction archive for everyone who feels that their fic isn’t safe with LJ.

I assume people will at least know archives that host “their” fandom. Meaning, LOTR people will know lotrff.com, Merlin people will know the Merlin Fanfiction ( Read more... )
