Reading in Wales

Aug 24, 2011 20:11

I was a bit undecided what novels to take on vacation this time. For the past few years, I always took an Arturo Pérez-Reverte novel and there are still a few left that I haven’t read yet. But: They’re all too long and/or only available as hardcover in my library. And I kind of shy away from taking a 700pages hardcover with me. So, I needed alternatives and I hope I found something fitting, especially for Wales: Jasper Fforde. That’ll be a new experience for me, never having read anything of his. But I’ve heard good things and since I love anything meta, it might be fun. It will be fun. Whatever:)

So this is what I will take, the first two Thursday Next novels, The Eyre Affair and Lost in a Good Book.

A nice surprise are the fake ads in the back. One of those perfectly fits the occasion:

Wales, here I come. And yes, incidentally, I’ll spend a week in Pembrokeshire. Gee Mr Fforde, how did you know?
