Ville Valo was astounded at how much food the younger man could eat and the rate he could eat it at. He simply shovelled bacon, eggs, and fruit into his mouth while stopping at intervals for a bite of toast or a drink of orange juice. The vampire found himself doing the opposite by taking small bites and chewing as he put thought into the individual tastes. He wondered if Bam tasted his food at all. If he did maybe he would have noticed how the eggs had slight salt to them and how the bacon was crispy with a flavour that made his mouth water. Being a vampire and all he found this especially interesting. “This has been a lovely meal... Would you mind me helping with the dishes?” April Margera blushed at Ville’s compliment as her son leaned back in his chair and burped after seeing his father doing the same. Both looked at the newcomer lazily and with question. “No no, you boys go on.” She insisted. The vampire nodded before following the teenager out of the kitchen. He hadn’t really wanted to spend time away from her son, but he did want her to like him.
Bam gave him a smile before turning to walk up the stairs. “C’mon man, we should change and you can shower or whatever before the guys figure out I’m not at the haunted house. I mean your house.” He apologized awkwardly. “That would be great. Don’t worry about it sweetheart.” Ville agreed. A hot shower and more time to talk with Bam sounded like a good plan. The teenager tried not to blush at the endearment, it created an odd feeling in his stomach and he wasn’t sure how he should react if at all.
Once they were upstairs Bam rifled through the shelf on top in his closet and handed him a towel. It felt soft and had a good amount of fluffiness to it. The vampire wondered how odd he would look if he were to press it against his face for a moment. Just long enough for the ocean breeze scent to sink into his senses. Interrupting his train of thought the teen brushed past him as he went into the bathroom. “I think there is some toothbrushes here somewhere...” he mumbled, digging in the cupboard beneath the sink. “Aha!” Bam exclaimed as he pulled out some plastic containers. “There was a sale or some shit and Ape bought like a million of them. You can use the shampoo and whatnot too, I’m just gonna get out of your way and change before the guys get here.” The raven haired man nodded and watched as Bam went back into his bedroom to start looking through some drawers. “What are you going to tell them, exactly?” he inquired. The kid shrugged. “Uhm, I guess that I had to leave when I found you. And that you’re here now. They’ll leave me alone after that, I hope. Then we can figure out what to do next.” Ville met Bam’s gaze briefly before they both looked away. “That sounds good.” He replied before shutting the door quietly. In the mirror he looked nervous and a lot more innocent than he gave himself credit for. It wasn’t every day that he found himself as a sort of guest in the home of the people he had been stalking for months since coming to America, especially having been there with no murderous intent. Ville sighed quietly. How far could this go before he was found out and chased out of the country? Would it be possible for anyone to trust him, ever?
In the other room Bam was pulling a sweater over one of his element shirts while mulling things over. Why was he going to such lengths to help out a stranger? It didn’t make sense. The brunette was never one to do volunteer work or to go about clothing and feeding the homeless. He would rather be outside with his friends playing pranks and doing tricks on his skateboard. The most charity he’d even done in his whole life was donating a few dollars at the grocery store when they asked. Bam wasn’t exactly a Grinch but it felt like since last night his heart had grown two sizes too big. He wanted to shield this man from the cold; he wanted to help him get back on his feet. He wanted things that he himself couldn’t comprehend yet. He just hoped that he was doing it for the right reason. Bam grimaced as he sat down on his bed, his hands fiddling with the hem of his sweater. There weren’t any ulterior motives, right? He was being generous, growing up for once. It had nothing to do with the green of the man’s eyes or the sound of his voice, or how smooth his skin looked. The teenager ignored the sinking feeling in his chest as he stood up.
It had nothing to do with that at all.
The vampire turned the knobs of the bathtub and adjusted the temperature. He stepped under the water and took a deep breath, closing his eyes and letting the water soak into his hair. The contrast between the cold and the hot felt amazing to him. This was certainly a perk of being abnormal. He let his fingers lightly rub circles on his neck, trying to release tension. Maybe Bam was going to tell him to leave after this. After he realizes they really had nothing to talk about. He was just a stranger. It felt a bit like he had over stayed his welcome already, although Ville suspected he might be shooting himself down too early. Didn’t he want Bam to give him a chance? But the situation felt odd to him. Things never really worked out this way before. The vampire reached for the body wash thoughtfully. He was going to smell good like a human, in a human’s home, in a human’s towel. Pretending he didn’t need blood.
The bad thing about this was that he did need blood. He thirsted for it; he craved it more than he could stand. If things did work out here, he would need a better plan than sleeping. Resting his eyes for a few hours wouldn’t work if he was running low. He’d have to go out, drain someone and come back and continue his little charade. It was easier to do when he had been alone, when the only one he was pretending for was himself. But now there was Bam. Ville wondered if it made him even less human to be lying to such extremes to someone he wanted as a friend. But the teenager wouldn’t suspect a thing, he couldn’t. Not when so much was on the line. The vampire made his resolve to try harder to make things work. The day was just beginning and he already felt the years of stress from his guilt.
After he was done getting ready, Ville decided to sit on the bed. Bam was nowhere in sight, he guessed that he was downstairs as there had been a loud noise. It sounded like teenage boys wrestling and laughing, then arguing. The raven haired man listening closely and concentrated on what they were saying.
“What the fuck? So you brought him home?”
“I don’t believe him. I bet its Jenn up there!”
Bam made a noise of annoyance. “It’s not fuckin’ Jenn. I’m serious! I found him in the house. I’m... I’m taking care of him. So you guys need to leave. Now.” He added seriously. Ville’s eyes widened upstairs. “And this doesn’t count as losing a bet!” noises of disagreement were heard all around. “This is bullshit man.” Dunn tossed the teenagers phone at him. “We’re settling this later!” the teenager shook his head at his best friend before opening the door. “Fine. Later.”
SLAM.
Bam sighed and combed a hand through his hair. He hoped they weren’t too mad at him for making them leave. He also hoped that they would believe him without needing too much proof. It’s not like he was just going to take them upstairs just to look at his visitor. That was too mean; Ville wasn’t some kind of endangered animal. He was just a homeless guy who didn’t need people staring at him. The teenager frowned as he made his way up the stairs. At least the problems were getting solved one by one. He was used to being the one creating more problems than solving them and the change felt significant. He stopped outside his door and took a breath. Was he ready for another problem?
