Hello guys! I don't know if any of you remember me. I used to wander around here quite a lot a few years ago. I tamed after some time, due to lack of news from the band. I was sick of waiting around without knowing when the album would come out, if it ever did come out one day ( Read more... )

Hello,

From one side, I am a good fan because I pre-ordered 3 editions of the album and the single "Tears On Tape" and on the other side, I am not because I am used to listening to the leak of the album for more than 3 weeks.

I'm still skipping some songs but I am continuing to listen to it because I want to love this album... but I am also disapointed and I share the same feelings as you regarding ToT.

To me, something is missing and this album has a taste of something that is not finished. I don't know exactly what.

I think it is because ToT is too subjective and not enough personal it pleases me less than the previous albums.

While there was no influence from any record label, this album has been produced to appeal to many people as possible. To keep the old fans and gain new ones.

In addition, I didn't find the interest of the interludes and the songs are too short.

PS: I am sorry for my bad English, I probably made a lot of mistakes but I hope you understood everything.

On a first listening I just thought "it's him. it's still okay. good thing." Maybe a bit disapppointing after those years. But I listened to the album much more now and it grows! Just give it a try and listen to it like ten times in a row an you will love it!
Although I missed some lyrics in the booklet too : (

personally i love the album! i'm not usually fond of "interlude" tracks and they are not my favorites on the album but i don't mind listening to them at all. i do love the heavy dirtier sound with the melodic lyrics. these songs are a bit more catchy than the average HIM song. but truth be told i'm not sure it's a bad thing. one thing i've always loved about HIM is their tendency to change their sound with every album. i will confess that the one thing i can say i wish was different is that it was longer. it's amazing and i love it. i just wish there was more of it.
as for the good fan i did pre order the fanpack and i did go two stores today to buy it and ended up having to download it on itunes. but my hard copy is coming.
i was bad i did listen to the previews of it which was basically me spoiling myself so release day wasn't as exciting as it should have been.

For me, it unfolds a little more every time I listen to it. I really like the weird instrumental songs, to me notes and sounds are just as important and the singing and lyrics. Linde's guitar work reminds me of when I first found really good music years ago. Its up to the listener to interpret. He may have written the music for himself but they are easy for me to relate. It sounds more honest and complex than past stuff. It makes my hair stand on end and gives me a kick in the but to try harder with things in my life and that there is another gear to run in or another road to take and hopefully get there intact ( ... )
