CHAPTER 2
When Heechul came home that night, he looked nervous for he was going to face Hankyung. He had a feeling that Hankyung might say something, and he was right for when he entered the room, Hankyung had a frown on his face.
“You smell weird, Heechul,” said Hankyung. “You smell really weird.”
Heechul frowned. “What are you talking about?”
Hankyung looked directly at Heechul. “You smell as if you had been marked.”
Heechul was taken aback. “What? Hankyung, you’re crazy! Just shut up and let me be! My personal life is something meant to be personal!”
Hankyung frowned some more. He was jealous, yes, but he was more worried. “I don’t smell a human’s mark on you.”
“How would you even know that?” shouted Heechul. “You have been living in that cave for around two thousand years or whatever the fuck number of years it is! How would you know a human’s scent?”
Hankyung shrugged his shoulders. “I know your scent, your landlady’s scent, and I could smell people walking down in the streets. You’ve been marked by something that’s not human.”
Heechul gritted his teeth. “Don’t you dare call Siwon a monster! He’s a human just like me so shut up, Hankyung!” He walked to the bathroom and slammed the door shut, leaving Hankyung to just stare at the door. He could feel an emotion in him that he never felt before. He wanted to find whoever marked Heechul and hurt that man, but he didn’t even know who marked the man. He just knew that the scent was that that was unworldly. He then stood up and glared at the door even more as he listened to Heechul shower. Hankyung was becoming mad, and he was too overwhelmed by that emotion to realize that he was feeling an emotion that was foreign for angels. Then he remembered how Heechul told him to magically make his wings disappear. He thought of it, and kept trying to look through the inner caves of his head to look for the answer of how to do it just so that Heechul could look at him more. He frowned and kicked the floor. He couldn’t find the answer and so he sat back down on the bed and groaned. He thought some more and before he knew it, his wings disappeared.
Hankung went back on his feet and stared at his back. He was bewildered. He tried to get it back and his wings appeared again, and he made it disappear once more, appear, disappear, appear, disappear.
He finally learned something. However, Heechul was in a bad mood. He’ll show it to Heechul tomorrow instead when Heechul has calmed down. So he sat back down on the bed and waited for Heechul to come out of the shower. When Heechul came out, though, Heechul glared at Hankyung and walked to the bed. Hankyung scooted over to make space for Heechul who lied down near the wall and closed his eyes to sleep. Hankyung sadly sighed and just sat there, thinking of how to make Heechul’s morning good enough for Heechul to stop being angry at him. So Hankyung walked over to the window. He was about to fly out but he remembered that he didn’t know how to fly, so instead, he took a cook book and started reading.
When Heechul woke up, he woke up to the smell of food that he smiled and sat up from the bed. He looked to his side and saw food on his desk. Then, he looked at Hankyung who was smiling right beside it without his wings.
“Oh, shit! Your wings are gone!” Heechul pointed at Hankyung’s back. “Your wings are gone! Where the fuck did it go to?”
Hankyung smiled. “I learned how to make it appear and disappear. Maybe we can finally have a normal day together?”
“And how about that?” Heechul pointed at the food. “Where did that came from?”
“One thing that I learned while I was in the cave was how to magically make things appear,” Hankyung sheepishly laughed, “well, it depends. The fallen angel taught me how to do little stuff because he would sometimes grow lazy and make me serve him. He enjoyed human food even if angels don’t really need it. All I need to know are the ingredients and ta-da!”
Heechul laughed and jumped off the bed. “This is amazing! Say, after breakfast, I’ll bring you out to see my University, okay?”
Hankyung smiled, “okay.”
“I have some clothes for you. Be thankful it’s not winter right now but summer,” Heechul grabbed the chopsticks and handed it to Hankyung. “Eat with me.”

“This is amazing!” said Hankyung in awe as he walked through the streets of the university. “The space is so big!”
Heechul smiled at Hankyung’s awe. “You’ve been stuck in a small room for so long, of course you’re going to like the huge university!”
Hankyung nodded and took Heechul’s hand in his. “Show me more!”
The touch of their hands made Heechul blush for Hankyung’s touch was so soft against his, his hand fitting perfectly into his.
“This is the happiest day in my life!”
Heechul smiled. “Let’s go,” and Heechul ran, dragging Hankyung with him. Both were happy with each other.
That night, though, Heechul left again to meet Siwon. When Heechul came back, he lied back down on the bed with Hankyung right beside him. They lied together side by side, both staring at the wall.
“Hankyung, in a few days, I’ll have to go back home,” Heechul faced the man. “I’ll bring you with me. I already asked my parents about it,” their faces were so close together and that Heechul couldn’t help but blush again. “I told them that your parents are out of the country and you’ll be lonely, that you’ll stay in my room and you’re my friend, and you’ll work with me in whatever job I get.”
Hankyung nodded, his eyes drifting to Heechul’s lips. “Okay. As long as I’m with you, I’m okay.”
“Hankyung?”
“Yes?”
Heechul turned around and faced the wall again, pushing his body against that wall. “It’s nothing.”
Hankyung bit his lip and stared at Heechul’s back. Then, he moved closer and embraced the man, pushing his own chest onto Heechul’s back. He expected that Heechul would push him away, but Heechul did not say anything and instead accepted the simple sign of affection.

In the province, inside his room at his family’s house, Heechul was rubbing his forehead as he sat in front of his computer. “I can’t believe that my mother and father both like you.” He looked at Hankyung who sat on his bed. “My younger sister even has a small crush on you.”
Hankyung smiled. “That’s nice to hear. Your family is rather charming and fun to be with. Of course, you’re the most charming.”
Heechul blushed and turned to look at his computer. “Stop acting like that. You know that I have a boyfriend.”
“I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong,” said Hankyung. “Have you told your parents about Siwon?”
“They know,” Heechul stood up. “They found out through the Internet.” He shrugged his shoulders. “I tend to talk too much online. My younger sister also has a crush on him.”
“Oh,” Hankyung remembered something, “has Siwon marked you?”
Heechul stiffened. Hankyung once said that he had the scent of someone who was not human but a supernatural benig. Heechul did not want to think that Siwon was anything other than a human being but instead he just wanted to think that Hankyung was just a very jealous angel. “No, Hankyung,” he said, “I had sex with someone else.”
Hankyung frowned. “You shouldn’t go around getting marked by just anyone. You’re a special person, Heechul. People should earn their rights to have you.”
“What the fuck are you trying to tell me?” Heechul shouted. “I am no girl so stop looking out for me!” He clicked his tongue and turned away. “You’re getting annoying. Just get off of the bed and let’s start looking for a job.”
So the two went out and started their little journey to find for a job. It took them a while but by the end of the day when night has finally come, the two managed to find a newly opened bookstore that hired them immediately. After that, the two went out for some dinner. Heechul wanted to drink but he didn’t want to expose the angel to alcohol, so they just went home.
It was already late at night, though. The streets were quiet and empty, except for the occasional drunk person trying to find his way home. The two just had a nice time together, and they were both walking slowly so that they could spend more time together before they reached home where Heechul would go to sleep.
“I like this place,” said Hankyung. “It’s more spacious than where you live.”
“Hey,” Heechul smiled at Hankyung, the street lamps illuminating them as they walked home, “you can practice flying here at night. You can hide in the mountains or whatever.”
Hankyung smiled. “I could definitely do that while you sleep! I would love to fly again. It’s such an amazing feeling.” Hankyung’s smile turned more gentle and soft. “I would love to have you fly with me.”
Heechul stopped walking which caused Hankyung to stop walking. The man looked at the angel in front of him and blushed once more. He couldn’t understand Hankyung, and he knew that Hankyung couldn’t understand himself either because Hankyung was an angel, a being so pure, who has been kept captive on Earth for centuries. How was a pure being going to deal with that when their powers were being taken through unexplained means (Hankyung refused to reveal it)? And how was a pure going to stay pure in captivity while on Earth, a place so corrupted compared to Heaven? And how was a pure being going to act while on Earth? Will they be influenced or not? Hankyung didn’t think much because he refused to do so, and because he couldn’t understand either for he has been taken away from who he really is. Heechul understood that, and Heechul hurt because of it.
“Heechul, are you okay? Don’t you want to fly?”
“I… I want to, Hankyung, but can you stop being this affectionate with me?” asked Heechul. “I have a boyfriend.”
“Yes, I know, and am I doing something wrong?” Hankyung looked so clueless. “You told me about being in a relationship with Siwon just a few days ago, and I haven’t touched you since because you told me that I’m not supposed to do that to you while you’re in a relationship. Are my words something I should not say either?”
Heechul sighed and shook his head. “You baffle me. You seriously baffle me. You’re an angel. You’re chaste and pure.”
“I am,” said Hankyung. “And I’m having a hard time trying to fit in with your people. Also, what did I do wrong? I just want to fly again, and I want to have you with me when I fly.”
Heechul sighed and walked closer to Hankyung. “That’s what’s wrong. You’re too affectionate.”
Hankyung was confused, “Is it bad? I’m thankful for you and I want to show you that I do care for you.”
Heechul smiled. “You know what, I also want to fly with you.”
Hankyung returned Heechul’s smile then reached for Heechul’s hand, taking it into his own. “We’ll fly together one day. So let’s go home so I can start practicing.”
