CHAPTER 3
“I like working,” said Hankyung as he sat on the chair by the cashier with Heechul. “I just sit here and read,” he looked at the book that he was reading. “I learn more and more every day.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Heechul waved his hand as he stared at his laptop’s screen watching a drama. “Why won’t you watch these things instead? It shows more about life.”
“But all I see are sex, drugs and alcohol,” said Hankyung. “I want stuff with more meaning.”
Heechul sighed. “You can never completely fit in with us humans. You’ll have to go back to Heaven.” Heechul paused the drama and looked at Hankyung. “Do you plan on going back?”
Hankyung frowned. “I do, but at the same time I don’t. I don’t know how to get there but that’s where I came from. I want to learn what I forgot, and I want to learn those that I need to learn. I don’t want to separate from you, though.”
Heechul clicked his tongue and looked down. “I don’t think I’ll go there. I’m not exactly pure.”
“You don’t need to be.”
Heechul looked at Hankyung.
“I can assure you that you’re going there,” Hankyung smiled. “If you don’t, then I’ll follow you and bring you to Heaven with me.”
Heechul blushed again. He has never had anyone be so nice to him before, even Siwon can’t compare to Hankyung, but Hankyung was an angel. Also, Heechul belonged to Siwon already, so he had to stop giving romantic tints on Hankyung’s pure words which were just, as it was, innocent words which meant nothing.
“Heechul, you’re giving me that look again.”
Heechul played the drama again and told Hankyung, “You are just so nice. I can’t stand it.”

One dark night at the end of their vacation, Hankyung brought Heechul to an empty field to give the human a surprise. “I’ve been practicing every single day,” said Hankyung. I even learned that I can do this, Hankyung reached out his hand and all of the sudden, a white sword appeared.
“Woah!” Heechul took a step back and grinned. “That is so fucking cool!” He tried to touch the sword but pulled his hand away, “Is it okay for me to touch it?”
“I honestly don’t know,” said Hankyung, making the sword disappear. Anyways, Hankyung grabbed his shirt and took it off, causing no blush to appear on Heechul’s face because he was already used to seeing Hankyung’s body. Hankyung then smiled at Heechul and said, “I told you that we’ll fly together, shall we fly tonight before we leave for the city?”
Heechul smiled in such a way he has never smiled before. “We’re going to fly?”
Hankyung’s wings suddenly came out of his backs, folding out in such a graceful way, the feathers looking even more regal than before. “This is a dream of mine, to fly again and to fly with you.” Hankyung reached his hand out to Heechul. “Shall we fly?”
Heechul looked at Hankyung, the smile still on their faces. “You don’t know how happy you make me,” said Heechul as he took Hankyung’s hand, letting Hankyung pull him forward. Hankyung then embraced Heechul, pulling Heechul close to him that Heechul stiffened. Their bodies were touching and their faces were so close. Heechul looked at Hankyung’s face, and Hankyung was looking back at Heechul. They were so close that their noses bumped, thus causing a small apology to come from Hankyung.
“Sorry for that,” Hankyung gave a small laugh, “shall we fly?”
“Let’s fly,” Heechul embraced Hankyung tightly and Hankyung embraced Heechul tighter.
“Here we go, Heechul!” The wings started to move, creating wind and pulling Hankyung and Heechul away from the ground.
“Oh, shit!” shouted Heechul as he looked down at the ground. “We’re flying!”
“I told you, didn’t I?” Hankyung gave another small laugh and before they knew it, they were flying in the air, together, a feeling of freedom and happiness dancing inside of them as they flew over the town and the mountains. It was a feeling that both of them enjoyed and treasured.
When they returned to the house and to Heechul’s bedroom, Hankyung was carrying Heechul for the human was sleeping. Carrying Heechul, Hankyung was smiling. He enjoyed being with Heechul and having the young man in his arms made him feel as if Heechul was his to protect. When he laid Heechul on the bed, he told the young man, “I’m your angel.” He kissed Heechul’s forehead. “I will protect you.”

Alas, their vacation had to end and both Heechul and Hankyung had to go back to the city wherein they moved into a two bedroom apartment that was much bigger than their old studio. They both earned enough money and Hankyung promised to work while Heechul would be at school. In their first week back at the apartment, Hankyung managed to get a job in a restaurant. It became a problem at first because they needed Hankyung’s papers, but Heechul managed to go around the restaurant owner’s mind and get Hankyung the job.
One day, Hankyung had a customer who was quite peculiar.
“What would I get for you, sir?” Hankyung smiled at the customer. Hankyung just finished training and was still rather nervous, but he was managing quite well.
“Hi,” the customer smiled at Hankyung, “I’ll have this,” he pointed at a meal in the menu and looked at his date, a young woman, “you’d have the same, right?”
The girl smiled back at the man and said, “yes, babe.”
“We’ll have two,” the man told Hankyung.
“Yes, sir,” said Hankyung. “I’ll have it out as soon as I can.”

That night, when Heechul came back, he was rather drunk and falling all over the place.
“Heechul?” Hankyung walked to Heechul and helped the man walk to the bed. “Heechul, were you drinking?”
“I was!” said Heechul as he embraced Hankyung. “I told Siwon that I didn’t want to drink because of you,” Heechul laughed. “You’re an angel and I don’t want you to see me drunk! You might scold me!”
Hankyung gulped. “Did you tell him about me?”
“Fuck no!” Heechul hit Hankyung’s shoulder. “I just told him that you’re here, and he wants to see you! He’s not jealous; he just wants to see you! I told him that he can’t, and then he just ordered alcohol and alcohol and alcohol! Woohoo!” Heechul ran to his bedroom and jumped on the bed. “I love Siwon!”
Hankyung frowned and looked down. Those words, I love Siwon, hurt his heart. He even wondered if he had a heart. Whether he did have one or not, it didn’t matter. The pain was great that he walked to his bedroom and closed the door.

The next day, Heechul didn’t have any school that he woke up late and with, thankfully, no hangover. He just stood up from the bed and walked to the living room where he saw food waiting for him. “Hankyung!” He shouted, but Hankyung didn’t reply. “Well,” Heechul shrugged his shoulders, “I’m not going to eat that until he says that it’s for me.” Then all of the sudden, the door to Hankyung’s bedroom opened and Hankyung went out.
“Heechul,” Hankyung walked to him and held his hips, “that’s for you.”
“Hankyung,” Heechul placed his hands on Hankyung’s hands, “stop touching me in such ways.” He blushed. “Siwon won’t be happy.”
All of the sudden, a knock came coming on the door, followed by, “Heechul, are you awake?”
Heechul’s eyes shot open. “That’s Siwon!” he hissed. He then took Hankyung and pushed him on the sofa. “Don’t touch me in any way while he’s here, okay? He doesn’t like it.” Heechul ran to the door and opened it to reveal Siwon.
“Hey, babe,” Siwon pecked Heechul’s lips and looked into the living room to see Hankyung. “Hey, this is your roommate? I know this guy!”
Hankyung stood up. “Yeah, you were one of my customers.”
“Yeah!” Siwon looked at Heechul, “Can I come in?”
“Oh, yeah, of course,” Heechul moved to the side and let Siwon enter. “Siwon, why are you here? I told you that you can’t exactly come because of my roommate.”
“Well,” Siwon turned to Heechul and held Heechul’s hips, pulling Heechul against his body. “You were drunk last night. I had to make sure that you were not violated in any way.”
Heechul frowned. “Hankyung’s not like that.”
“I had to make sure,” Siwon turned to Hankyung. “I like your name, Hankyung.”
Hankyung frowned. Siwon was just with another girl the other day and they were calling each other ‘babe’ too. Also, seeing this man again, something didn’t feel right. He didn’t smell like a human and Hankyung was sure that this man wasn’t an angel too. Hankyung definitely knew his smell and the smell of the fallen angel who captured him.
“Hankyung,” Siwon’s hold on Heechul’s waist tightened, “I hope that you don’t mind that I have some time with your roommate for a while.” Siwon turned to Heechul. “Where’s your room?”
Heechul frowned. “What are you planning?”
Siwon went closer to Heechul and whispered, “You know that I don’t like how you’re too protective of your roommate. Just tell me that the two of you are lovers and I’ll leave you alone.”
Heechul hit Siwon’s shoulder. “We’re not. He’s just too innocent, Siwon. It makes me guilty.”
Hankyung frowned that he also felt guilty for keeping Heechul from being himself.
“Can you stop this already?” Heechul scowled at Siwon. “Seriously, stop this.”
Siwon smiled. “Okay. I just want to let you know that I love you, babe.” He pecked Heechul’s lips again. “I still have a class to go to.” He whispered again at Heechul’s ear. “I’ll see you tonight,” he nipped Heechul’s ear and left.
Hankyung frowned at Heechul. “I don’t like him.”
“Well, I do,” said Heechul as he crossed his arms in front of his chest. “He’s hot. Have you seen those abs? Damn! I’d do him any time.”
“Heechul,” Hankyung walked over to the human. “He’s not human. He’s not an angel either. Stay away from him.”
Heechul glared at Hankyung. “Stop being so jealous. I’m sick of it. I would go out with anyone I like and it’s not your business, Hankyung.”
“But he’s not human!”
“And so are you!”
Hankyung immediately shut his mouth and stiffened. Those words hurt him and he didn’t know why. He wanted to be Heechul’s angel so that he could protect the human, but at the same time he wanted to be like Heechul because of Heechul.
Heechul shouted, “You were kept a prisoner for hundreds of years, for most of your life! How would you know another entity’s smell? And what, you’re telling me that he’s a demon? Well, he’s a fucking hot demon!” Heechul walked to his bedroom and slammed the door shut, leaving Hankyung to wallow in his thoughts.
