CHAPTER 1
When Heechul entered the apartment with Hankyung in tow, the land lady approached him. “Heechul, who do you have there? Can you at least give him some clothes?”
Heechul sheepishly grinned and said, “He just came from a circus show. He accidentally tore his clothes because of these damned wings.” Heechul fluffed the wings that were coming out of Hankyung’s back. “They’re so realistic,” said he. “We’re going to get some clothes right now.”
The land lady eyed those wings, “They do like real. Go get some clothes already.”
“Yes, we will,” Heechul led Hankyung upstairs to the 5th floor where his unit was. He led Hankyung inside it and pushed Hankyung on the bed. “This is a small studio. How am I going to keep you here? Your wings are already cramming the place!” shouted Heechul.
“I’m sorry,” said Hankyung. “If you don’t want me to stay, I’ll leave. I don’t want to impose such burden onto you.”
Heechul twitched as the guilt on Hankyung’s face was just so innocent that it annoyed him. It not only made him want to barf, it made him want to pull Hankyung’s wings off. “This is why I never liked angels.”
“You don’t have to hide me, Heechul.”
“Listen,” Heechul raised his hand to make Hankyung stop talking. “I already gave my word, and the great Kim Heechul never turns back from his word.” Heechul sighed. “This is just going to be hard having to hide you here from whatever it is that you’re hiding from. Say, what is it that you’re hiding from?”
“A fallen angel.”
Heechul’s eyebrow rose. “A fallen angel? This gets creepier by the minute. Are you talking about that Lucifer fellow?”
Hankyung shook his head. “There are more than just him, Heechul. This fallen angel wants to take control of the Earth. He’s power hungry, and that’s why he kidnapped me. He’s been draining me of my power, taking it for himself so that he could be stronger.”
“Then where the fuck is he?” asked Heechul. “If he wants to take over the world, then why is it that the world is still up?”
“He’s molding people, just like the way the demons are doing so,” explained Hankyung with such a solemn face. “While demons are more straightforward with what he’s doing, this angel is doing his behind closed doors.”
Heechul sat down beside Hankyung. “Then tell me, what is it that he’s done so far?”
“I don’t know. He never told me.”
Heechul sighed in annoyance. “You are definitely annoying me.” Heechul stood up and crossed his arms in front of his chest. “Why can’t you call anyone in Heaven?”
“I don’t know how to do so,” Hankyung looked down. “He took me the moment I was created.”
Heechul raised another eyebrow. “Wait right there, Mr. Angel, I thought that angels have been alive since the dawn of time?”
“Most of them, but there are rare instances when we become created,” Hankyung smiled at Heechul. “I was created when that angel fell.”
“When was that?”
“During the time of Nero.”
Heechul’s mouth dropped.
“Is there something wrong?” asked Hankyung.
“Don’t tell me he’s behind Nero?”
“No,” Hankyung shook his head. “That was the Devil himself. That angel never sided with him. He wants his own world separate from Heaven and Hell; he wants his own world with his own sense of good different from Heaven.”
Heechul shook his head and sat back down beside Hankyung. “You, Mr. Angel, are dealing with someone who’s psychotic.”
“I know.”
“Anyways,” Heechul looked at his bed, “this place is so small. We’ll have problems eating and sleeping. It’s already crammed and it crammed up more with your wings.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Stop apologizing!” shouted Heechul. “It’s annoying me. If I said I’ll help you, I’ll help you.” Heechul crossed his arms in front of his chest. “We just need to find a way.”
“We can share the bed?” suggested Hankyung which in turn made Heechul turn red.
“I’m not doing that!” Heechul hit Hankyung’s shoulder.
“Why?”
Heechul was baffled. Hankyung was definitely an angel who did not know what sharing a single sized bed meant to most. So he sighed, “We’ll share, but wait, do angels sleep?”
“We don’t need to, but I can’t go out of this room because of these wings. I think I’ll be sleeping whenever you’re gone.”
Heechul looked towards the wall clock and stood up again. “I’ll just go shower. I have school at 11.”
So Heechul took in the angel into his small studio. It was something that he felt he had to do, but something that also became a bother for that meant that he could not bring friends over anymore, and he could not spend much time outside in fear that the angel might do something unheard of.

One day, as Heechul was walking through the courtyard of his University to go to the cafeteria to get some food, someone approached him from behind and tapped his shoulder. He turned around and saw a man, taller than him, smiling.
“Hi, I’m new here,” said the man. “I just transferred schools and I’m lost. Can you tell me where the way to the cafeteria is?”
Heechul blushed because the man was so good looking. It made him bite his lip because he has never blushed because of a man before, even the chiseled angel in his unit could not make him blush. “You’re heading to the cafeteria? I’ll lead you there. I’m heading there right now.”
“Cool,” said the man, a dimple showing on his face. “I’m Siwon,” he gave a small laugh. “I was raised in Italy, near Rome. I moved here a few years ago because my parents are from this country. I hope you don’t mind my accent.”
“No way, of course I don’t mind it!” Heechul, too, gave a small laugh. “I’m Heechul. Let’s go to the cafeteria and I’ll show you around.”
“I would love that,” said Siwon and the two went on their way.
As they walked, Heechul wondered, “It’s already midterms and you still don’t know the cafeteria?”
“I never ate there. I just go to class and leave,” answered Siwon.
“Oh, that’s okay then.”
So Heechul made a new friend that day, Choi Siwon, someone who he became unbelievably close to that Heechul introduced Siwon to everyone he knew, even making Siwon the heartthrob of the university. Girls stuck to him like glue and boys wanted to be like him, but Siwon never looked at any of those girls or hung out with any of the boys unless Heechul was with him. His attachment to Heechul made Heechul feel special, and Siwon made Heechul stay out more often, leaving the angel in his unit alone.

One lonely night, Heechul was out drinking wherein he came back home at 4 in the morning, drunk, and was greeted by a lonely Hankyung.
“Hey, Heechul,” Hankyung smiled, “I missed you.”
“You missed me?” Heechul smiled and stumbled towards Hankyung, surprising Hankyung and making Hankyung fall onto the bed with Heechul on top of him. “The angel missed me?” Heechul laughed and sat on top of Hankyung. “We sleep together every night, Hankyung!”
“But we barely talk now,” said the angel. “We just sleep side by side together and that’s it.”
“Well, if you want more of me,” Heechul lied down on Hankyung’s body and laid his head on his chest. “Do something about your wings, Hankyung. Make them magically disappear so that we can go out together,” Heechul yawned. “I’m sleepy!”
So Hankyung sadly frowned. Heechul seemed unhappy with him, and he was unhappy too because all he wanted to do was to please the human. He just didn’t know how to do so. Heechul always complained that he was too nice, and Hankyung did not know anything else but to be too nice. So he sighed and brought himself to sleep again. In his dreams, he dreamed of flying with his wings, and he dreamed that he was flying with Heechul in his arms.

The next day, Siwon invited Heechul to go to the DVD rooms, a place where people can rent a room to watch any movie of their choice. Siwon even made Heechul pick the movie, he begged that Heechul not pick any Disney movie, though. Heechul laughed at first and said that he’ll pick whatever he wanted to watch, but then he decided to give Siwon a chance that he picked a romantic comedy. However, they both didn’t even watch the movie.
The two sat on the recliner, the back of which was already reclined and the footrest already up. Heechul was leaning on Siwon and Siwon had his arms wrapped around Heechul, his head resting on the smaller man’s.
“Wait, Siwon,” Heechul tried to pull away but Siwon kept him close. Heechul’s heart was racing and his mind was spinning. It was Siwon who placed his arm around Heechul, and it was Siwon who brought Heechul to lean onto his body. It confused Heechul, “Can you let me go?”
“Why?” Siwon smiled at Heechul. “Don’t you like me?”
That question baffled Heechul for a while. “I-I do,” he gulped, “but not in that way. You’re a dear friend and I’ve only known you for two months.”
“And finals is over,” said Siwon.
“We’ve been celebrating since yesterday about it.”
“I just want to be with you as much as I can before you go back to the province to visit your family.”
Heechul stiffened at that. He totally forgot that he was going back home during the two month vacation. How was Hankyung going to live without him? Heechul was planning to let go of the unit and find another one because he won’t have the money. He usually worked during the vacation to earn the money for semester. So where would Hankyung go to without him?
“Heechul?”
“Huh?”
“Well?” Siwon smiled, “I like you.”
Heechul tried to push Siwon off of him but Siwon wouldn’t let go. “Siwon, stop this.”
“You’ve never kissed anyone, correct?”
Heechul stiffened. He never told Siwon that -he never told anyone that. He has always been scared to go the next level with anyone, and if he has given any drunk kisses, he didn’t remember any.
“Stop being scared, Heechul,” Siwon cupped the man’s face and looked deep into those shaky eyes. “I know that you think that you shouldn’t do this, but it’s okay. It’s totally okay. You’re only human.”
Yes, Heechul was human. He was no angel, and he was no demon. He was human.
“It’s okay, Heechul. Give in to your wants. You’re a man, you’ve been craving this but you can’t do this, can’t you? You have a roommate that’s always there. You’re with me now,” Siwon moved closer, his breath brushing against Heechul’s lips. “It’s okay to give attention to those wants, Heechul. It’s totally okay to do so.”
Heechul bit his lip and looked away, but Siwon cupped his face and led his face to his, their lips to one another. When their lips touched, Heechul stiffened. He wanted to push Siwon away, but then his eyes closed and he moaned. Siwon smiled through the kiss and moved to sit on top of Heechul, his lips never pulling away from Heechul’s. He moaned and reached for the controller beside Heechul. He pressed a button and the recliner fell lower, thus creating a bed for him and Heechul.
The two did not watch the movie.
