I only had one class today, so now it's the weekend for me :-) I've got some low-carb banana bread fresh out of the oven, so life is good (and hot and buttery, mmmm). Today's been a bit annoying. My Civil Practices teacher sent all her students (100ish) a forwarded spam email containting a tear jerker story about the origins of the song 'Taps'. Plenty of GOD BLESS AMERICA and SUPPORT OUR TROOPS or else you're a horrible person type messages implied all over the place. Anyhow, checked it out at Snopes.com (took about 5 seconds) and indeed, it's an urban legend. Great. Not only does she send us right-wing religious dogma as (additional) punishment for having to be in her class, it's bullshit :P
Emailed her back phrasing it a lot more politely and giving the link. She replied that she hadn't checked because she 'wanted' to believe it was accurate. err...
Philosophy was fun though. We got into a circle formation and discussed it with more back and forth between students instead of back and forth between teacher and one student at a time. I feel a lot more comfortable in this class than in the religious studies one ... everyone there pretty much had a major in religion it seemed, whereas this class has a lot of philosophical ignorami like me :-) Plus the topics are more interesting, which I guess is a relative statement to make.
Lymph nodes ached all through class, so I was quite glad when it was done with no more classes afterward. I'm going to try to take it easy this weekend, especially since I've got fever again (arrrgh), so hopefully can put off a bicycle ride to Safeway for milk and bread until after I'm in better shape. Though I really crave low-carb toast sometimes ... mmm, toasty buttery toast! Quite glad Alicia brought the toaster to the apartment :-)
