Made myself go to class yesterday when I felt awful, so I'm skipping today :P This way I'm only missing two hours of class instead of 6. I guess one of those hours was unavoidable since I had to turn in a paper.
Man, that paper was a pain. We had a week to write it, and that's the week that I didn't get more than 6-7 hours of sleep per night and had persistant headaches. Silly me kept putting the paper off til I felt better - ended up writing it in the three hours before class the day it was due. I really need to do that differently in the future ... when feeling bad, plug away at the bastard anyhow, and if I start feeling better before it's due, rewrite it into something decent.
Anyhow, I finally got enough sleep the past couple nights (8-9) and feeling better now. Cramps also have gone away, thank god. Hard enough to be awake with those, never mind trying to sleep. Then waking up with throbbing lymph nodes just to make it all even more fun :-P
Haven't spoken to my fiance since the weekend before last, hoping he'll be online again soon. He's too busy at work for chatting though, and hasn't found an apartment yet that's secure enough to feel comfortable about moving his computer to. Luckily we can make up for it on the weekends usually, and once or twice a year when we can visit each other :-) Oooh, must send him something for valentijn's day. Err, Valentine's :P Though I guess that is the proper dutch spelling.
Classes are going well in general ... philosophy's actually interesting most of the time, and would probably be more so if I did more of the readings (bad carly!). Crimonology's pretty easy ... lectures, videos, group work in class that's pretty interesting, and I like my group in that class. Two of the guys are rather 'out there', but usually just for comedic effect :P And when they're serious, it gives me a different perspective to consider. Briefly :P
I don't like my Civil Practice instructor much, but class isn't bad ... I sit by John and we occasionally whisper to each other to pass the time. She usually lets us out early too ... lectures longer than 90 minutes are cruel and unusual :P Our third group member in that class is fairly entertaining as well ... some of it's deliberate, but it also just seems to be the way he is. He asks a -lot- of questions :P Teacher gets annoyed, I rest my chin on my hand (covering my mouth) and grin. John doesn't bother being discreet about -his- grinning. But the third group member doesn't like the instructor because, well, she doesn't like him and does little piddling things. Like saying she can't respond to his email because he uses hotmail :P Erm, both me and John gave her our hotmail email addies, and she's sent us plenty of mail. Anyhow, after talking about him with that before class is when the third group member started -deliberately- asking questions to annoy ... and when our grinning commenced :P Anyhow, he seems pretty cool ... a little hyper and out there, but not as scary as the instructor led us to believe when asking us to have him in our group.
Careers in law enforcement is also a cool class ... 2 hours a day once a week (evenings, ugh). All lecture, but it's all guest speakers talking about their ... careers in law enforcement! I'm not interested really (except ATF, kick ass pay, etc), but it gives me some extra credits so I can be a vegetable for spring quarter. It's also the first class I had taught by someone on the conservative side of LAJ. Most of my professors are lawyers or crimonologists, and have a viewpoint that would be considered liberal. The cops mostly seem to have a pretty conservative viewpoint. So I hear the same old statistics, but with different conclusions being drawn. Interesting, anyhow.
Feeling better this afternoon, so I might try to do something constructive. Maybe homework. Or ride down to freddie's and get some food and blue nail polish. It's funny, but at the start of last year I thought it was a hardship riding from Muzzall to the middle school (.5 mile), and now I do three miles to freddie's and three miles back with a really heavy pack with no problem. Well, I'm tired when I get back, but it's a good tired :-) Maybe I'll get something for psycho kitty ... something for her to chew on/scratch/maim instead of me :P A few days ago she was up on my loftbed playing with my highliter, and sent it flying off the edge. She went flying off the edge after it, forgetting there was a significant drop, and running into my face and shoulder :P Had a faint claw mark on my forehead for a couple days ... she's lucky I like her so much *makes syrupy cooing noises* Oh yeah. constructive things ... hrm. Clean room, not laundry time yet, sewing ... ooer, take in the waistband of steph's pants ... got one pair done over the summer, but keep not having time for the 2nd pair.
I was bad and bought wheat thins and pretzels and fruit juice and chocolate yesterday on my way home from class at 7pm. I should throw them away and start going low-carb cold turkey right now. God I hate it. Feel good when I get into low-carb mode, but the transition is awful. I've been doing semi-low-carb lately, which is better than no low carb I guess. I guess it'll serve to remind me that while one high-carb meal, or even a days worth, can be recovered from, doing it for a few weeks over the holidays is Bad :P
That's it for now! Off to get exercise and low-carb food :P If I don't buy it, I don't have to worry about eating it in moments of weakness! (low-carb B&J ... mmmm)
