Facebook me! ok, that's the new facebook. enjoy.
yep. lots of stuff going on recently, but right now, japanese homework. a lot of it. i went to a big party the other night with lauren savit, a girl you don't really know, and it was fun. got drunk, snuck onto the roof, and had a good time. yesterday i pretty much stayed home and recovered, except for the dance party in my room at midnight with my goooorgeous roommates (sarah and olga bell, sister and stepsister, respectively). we also took some photos, one of which is now on my facebook. that's the most recent scott photo you'll see. for the moment. so enjoy it. because i sure did. i'll try to figure out a way to post more photos here, particularly of the two sisters. i've been fencing more, and, surprisingly, friday's practice actually got my thigh muscles sore. i know, i know, that's impossible, but... well, guess not.
classes. told you about the poetic lesbians. french is mostly spent staring at my cuuuute french teacher, and also covertly laughing about the notsofrenchadept folk in the class. but, there are lots of girls (11 or 12) and only 5 boys (3 are gay), so i'm again benefiting from the ratio caused by my enjoyment of girlie classes. japanese is the same sort of thing, although a hefty percentage of the students are asian, not that i mind, it's just mildly disconcerting. on the other hand, that's what i would expect out of a japanese class. supposedly the professor from my world cultures china class last year (speaking of asian classes) is now being fought over by harvard and yale. nyu, upon learning about this, gave him tenure (after only 4 years, and the dude is pretty young), but it probably won't be enough to keep him around much longer. in addition, his book is a big seller (dragon from the east, concerning the chinese economic boom), and he also likes to give lectures to congress, again concerning chinese economics. all told, according to my TA, he's making a good three to five hundred thousand dollars per year. as far as i'm concerned, those are three to five hundred thousand good little reasons for continuing in my field of study. my one remaining class, linguistics, actually looks pretty fucking awesome. i've only had one class period so far, so that's a bit unfortunate, but... well, it just looks great. interesting, the professor is intelligent (i should hope, at least), funny, and nice, so long as the students have good attendance. but, since i'm a commuter, i would find it pretty hard to skip class anyways, so i'm not worried about that really at all. way to go!
anyways, gotta run and do more homework, but i'll chat you kids up later on.
