Imaginary play

Penelope is trying to help me type this, so we'll see if it actually gets posted.

She has started "pretend play." She was just "feeding" her tomatoes to her teddy bear. Then she decided he needed some apple slices. After watching me try to wipe tomato seeds off him, she picked up a rag and washed him up, too.

PJ is also quite the crafty little one. This morning she wanted her pacifier, which we try to limit to sleep and car time; although, with her cutting several teeth at once, now we've been slipping some. We were in her bedroom putting away clothes and she did the sign for pacifier. I said no, and she pointed to the rocking chair and did the sign for "sit." I figured she wanted to rock and read books, so we climbed up. The minute we were sitting she signed "pacifier" again, as she knows she gets it when we're rocking and reading before bed. Very clever little one. We read a book and got down.

It is getting easier to communicate with her, because she will shake her head for, and say, 'no.' But now, she will also sign "yes," so we can clarify what she wants.

Speaking of communication, we were contacted by Stanford to see if we wanted to participate in a language study with her. I'm guessing they got our name through Las Madres, or one of the other classes I've signed up for. It sounded interesting, so I registered for more information.
