Private action for Clover | So scream you, out from behind the bitter ache

Dec 01, 2011 20:19

[Clover might have started to notice something about one of the boys that she rooms with.

He never sleeps before midnight.

When he and Miles shared a room, he had at least a reason to pretend to sleep before his watch beeped the hour. But now that Miles wouldn't notice his rising, Ken had no reason to stare at the ceiling for hours on end. Certainly, he retreats to his room when they say good night, but it's not twenty minutes later that he makes his way, quiet in his socks, to the kitchen they share.

He has a home, and he watches out the window of that home for the moon. And he waits, hoping desperately it won't turn green. He lost a home and a mother to an accident in the Dark Hour. He won't lose a home and his friends to it, too.

He doesn't expect anyone to ever follow him, but tonight he's lost in thought. A conversation with Minato after months of avoiding him. The loss of SEES, when nearly the entire time had been assembled a year ago. The idea that a year ago, he was still angry and hateful and bitter. Well, he was still bitter, but Ken's heart hurt less with the burning rage of injustices and the hollow ache of loss. They were both still there, but it was softened by what happiness he'd made here in Johto.

He sits in the kitchen, staring at the moon, and doesn't pay attention to a single other thing.]
