2 months

the urthling will be 2 months on thursday. we took her for her shots today so now we are having a very fussy evening. poor thing...her little legs were pricked three time. doctor seemed to hint that we need to keep her above the 50% for weight. i'm going to ignore that. she now weights 11 lbs, 24 in long (?) and 14 in for head. i figure that as long as she keeps growing i'm not going to worry about her weight. i weighed 124-126 lbs until i was about 28-29 yrs. i was skinny. my dad & brother are thin. he went on again about rice cereals, then yellow veggies, then green over the course of many months. he says 4-6 months we can start solids, but a whole slew of medical orgs say no solids until at least 6 months....that means she can have thanksgiving dinner with us ;-)

we met songul today. i think she will work out very well. the urthling will learn turkish because she speaks turkish to the other boy she takes care of. not that either of us will be able to speak it with her to keep the language in use, but it should help with learning other languages when she gets older. we shook hands when we met, but when we left i hugged her. i figure, gods, she will be caring for my child! she will be kinda like family.

i think one of the best memories of this summer will be the mornings sitting on the swing nursing her. the dappled sunlight coming thru the trees, the quiet neighborhood and the sounds of birds going about their lives. (note to self-refill finch feeder). there is a peaceful, wholeness feeling as i sit and nurse. it is a Great Goodness.

i've got some new and new to me diapers coming. i got some fuzzibuns 2nd hand and thebcman's sister ordered some for us. i am very curious to see what she ordered. i gave her a list of diapers and covers that i like or was interested in trying out. we have come to the conclusion that the gerber diapers aren't that great as prefolds. when i was last at target i found out why-polyester-not as absorbent as 100% cotton. with the urthling growing, she is getting too large for some of the newborn diapers. about time to sell them to fund the next round. looking forward to my fluff arriving.

the bottle feeding was a little rough late last week. i think they have worked out their issues because now she is taking it a lot easier. pumping is going well. getting a small stash started.

found some more time to examine the Carmina Gadelica. there is some good stuff in there. i may be able to use a couple more prayers from there in the baby blessing.

parental units may be up this weekend. other than that, it's the same ol' same ol.

cloth diapers, rosalind, breast feeding
