So, I really like that he's all self-blaming for this. Like, it's his own fault Elena wants him, but it's not cocky at all (as one might expect) -- it's like this horrible burden he has to bear now and if he had known it would feel this way he never would have done it. (He still would have done it, no matter what ( ... )

I'm so glad you were around to read this right away! Rewritings are tricky, and I was freaking out you wouldn't like it :).

You're right, it's so hard to write Damon's POV without getting all parenthetical ;). It just fits, I can't think of a better way to reflect his auto-irony.

I imagine that her stare must be infuriating and arousing at the same time. He can never be sure why exactly she's looking.

It's just...with Elena it really was about desire and connection and the mystery of him, and then when she sees the emotion burning so brightly in his face, it becomes more emotional for her (always the boy, this girl). So, Damon with all his angsty emotions that really have nothing to do with sex, but ultimately they get to be expressed lovingly (because, always the girl, this boy) and he gets to be seen, and felt, and accepted...just, guh.

In a nutshell.

Only now Damon realizes that this is actually happening, Elena Gilbert wants him enough to hold him firmly in her hand, and he doesn't even care why, except of course he does.

So Damon, lol. I loved that line.

I think 'refuse' is too harsh a word for it. I think 'crippling inability to write' pretty much sums it up. ;p Either way, I'm glad you had fun with it. :)

Size Matters is amazing, and also a lot of fun to work with, because it creates a situation in which Elena's and Damon's POVs MUST be very, very different :D. Obviously Damon isn't obsessed with his own penis ;) (Though, who knows...)

I've seen people say Damon worries Elena wants him because of how he looks, and others say he's much more confident than that. What do you think?

I think it actually depends on a day. Elena herself doesn't always react to him the same way. Sometimes she clearly cares about him as a person (see: Denver), and sometimes she's shamelessly focused on the physical (see: "Are you staying for the show?"). I think Damon picks up on it, and that's why his attitude is often ambiguous. He knows she cares about him as a person, that she genuinely wants him for who he is. But he also knows that there are days when she'd be perfectly capable of just treating him like a sex toy. I'd say he's confident, but he's also aware that Elena isn't fully stable.
