Went On Vacation
Hey everybody! New things happening.
1st: Ski Vacation! I was away this weekend on a mini skiing vacation with my family. It's an annual thing where about 43 of us drive about three hours to ski and swim and hang out with each other. And it is exhausting. We have to get up early to get to the slopes and everyone sleeps badly in beds that aren't your own, but it's a lot of fun. And at times absolutely insane. We rented cabin-type condos that had three bedrooms each. Now most families rent one, or two, if they need the extra space. We rented four. And it was obviously not set up for the same family to have four of the condos, 'cause only two of them were right next to each other. There was a lot of running around in the freezing cold snow.
And oh god, the snow. It just came down constantly in dime size snowflakes. That stuff is a bitch to ski through. I've never skied in snow before and you can't see anything and it was freezing cold, I seriously thought I might be getting frost bite in my hands. So yeah, next year hopefully there will be less snow and freezing cold temperatures.
There were three different water parks in the place we stayed at and so there was a lot of swimming going on. I was peer pressured to go on a couple of slides and actually kind of enjoyed them. I never go on slides. Fast enclosed things scare me. I still spent a lot of my time on the lazy river. That thing is waaayyy more my speed. Also, there was a wave pool. I have never been in one before and it was a lot of fun.
Anyway, I spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday there. I think my favorite part of this little vacation is Sunday morning when we make pancakes and every other breakfast food under the sun and the whole family gathers together in one room, half asleep, some still in their pajamas, and eats breakfast. I think I like it 'cause it's so rare. I hardly ever see my extended family so early in the morning that this is ~special.
2nd: LJ is offering 2 weeks of free paid account time and I signed up for that today. I love all the extra icon space, but other than that eh. Maybe I'll try editing a comment next. Oh the fun I shall have. ;) This experience it totally going to make me want a paid account, though. Which is what they were aiming for, so I guess it works.
3rd: Apparently square bagels exist. This is not earth shattering news and would not merit a mention in my LJ if I didn't have a picture.
Don't those look so freaking good? I want one now. :/
