All Are And Be

Bloody hell. R Kelly man. Do you know how much and for how long I've hated that guy. Then, last year I think it was, he produced a track called Busted for the Isley Brothers and I picked it up on a HMV Playlist CD. I usually only use those things for tracks by bands I already know about but in this case I was take away by Busted, it was a beautiful bittersweet storybook duet about a man who figures out (somewhat dubiously) that his girl's been playing away from home.

Anyway.

R Kelly then, has pretty much repeated the idea to absolutely phenomenal effect on a quintology called Trapped In The Closet in which he cheats on his girlfriend then gets caught by the girl he's cheating with's boyfriend who it turns out is seeing another man. That's what you may have seen in the video. It then goes on to another three parts that I've just downloaded. It's a really, really nice little series of songs and heaven knows I'd buy it if he released it as, like, an EP or something.

I'm a biased boy no doubt about it. If I decide I don't like something little'll change my mind on that. I can admit that Bad Boys For Life by Pea Puff Doodly Did Do is a decent club track but I can't imagine saying it's A Good Song. R Kelly was always in that category. Vibes, sure, was fun. He did a fantastic job on Aaliyah's first album sure but ultimately he's a talent vacuum. Trapped In The Closer Parts 1 - 5, however, is just pure class. Simple.

Oh! On which subject, did you know Jermain Dupree (talent vacuum that he most certainly is) - who some of you probably best know for producing It's Like That by the warbling beauty Mariah Carey - seems to be the guy behind Usher's breakthrough hit You Make Me Wanna. What's all THAT about. My word. Weird day on MTV Base, eh.

Hmm. This journal's getting mighty urrrban, innit. Oh well, swings and stages I guess. Too much Offspring on MTV2 recently.
