Missy Misdemeanor Elliott. How good is she. I've just downloaded, from 7Digital.co.uk, the free track On And On. Anyone who's seen the video to Lose Control (a track spoiled by the heavy, heavy use of a sample and Fatman Scoop's existence - however good is Be Faithful was back in the 90's) will know it as the now Missy-obligatory end bit, where the next song on the album is played. Like, they forgot to press stop when they were recording the single to tape and so had to make up a little bit of video for that too.
I heard, once, and haven't heard since, that Timbaland and The Neptunes were in a group together back before they were famous. Well, back before Timbo was famous for reinventing hip hop, then The Neptunes went on to Be The Biggest Producers In The World Ever. Well. This kinda reunites them, if only since Missy is essentially just the female half of the Missy/Timbo Ying Yang Superbeing.
On And On is a fantastic track, the kind of dirty R+B Timbaland doesn't make as much as he used, as much as I wish he would. I often think it's a shame The Neptunes did as well as they did simply by refining the sound that Timbaland had brought to the masses. I mean, I'm glad they were the ones who did it and not, say, Swizz Beats instrumental DATs or Jermain Dupree (two mentions in as many entries? yikes). Or even Darkchyyyyylllde, although he's put his name to some classics, to be fair. The two pairs of producers seem to think in the same way, just, Timbaland doesn't quite kick the speakers in the same places The Neptunes do. Ah well. He'll still always be much loved in this household.
DJs in the mix, shows, you'd better go to the record store and, cop that shit.
